Dahe Liu Leads Final 14 in the 2014 GPS Grand Final

The penultimate day of the 2014 Genting Poker Series (GPS) Grand Final Main Event started with 85 players in contention for the £54,060 and ended with only 14 still in the hunt. Those 14 playrs return to the Genting Club in Sheffield on Sunday afternoon led by Dahe Liu.

Liu has ended 2014 n strong form having finished 12th from 2,133 entrants in the 2014 partypoker WPT500 UK and 39th from 354 in the partypoker WPT UK Main Event. Now he goes into the final day of the GPS Grand Final armed with 1,086,000 chips.

Hot on Liu's heels is “The Mad Turk” Yucel Eminoglu and his 993,000 stack. Eminoglu is a looking for what would be his fourth GPS Main Event final table appearance having finished fourth in Birmingham in 2012, second in Sheffield in 2013 and first in Stoke in 2012.

Among the other 12 players are some talented individuals who will have a major influence on where the title ends up. James Conway (803,000) will fancy his chances of a win as will Jamie “Boz” O'Connor (668,000), Dom Mahoney (639,000), Tom Langley (468,000), Richard Hawes (423,000), Will Kassouf (403,000), reigning champion Richard Milner (235,000) and Ben Jackson (132,000).

Each of the 14 returning players is guaranteed at least £2,550 for their efforts thanks to the money bubble bursting towards the back end of Day 2.

The unfortunate bubble popped when Richard Sheils raised from late position and Matt Davenport raised all-in for his last 55,000 with {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts} and Sheils called with {K-Spades}{8-Clubs}. Davenport crashed out when the board ran {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{10-Clubs} to counterfeit his pair of nines and send him to the rail.

Alex Spencer, Ben Vinson, Chinese Frankie, Richard Blacklock, Day 1c chip leader Christopher Johnson, Kevin Allen, and Tom Deane busted after Davemport and all collected some prize money.
