Players in Regulated Markets Can No Longer Enter Live Events Via PokerStars Account

Players in Regulated Markets Can No Longer Buy Into Live Events Through Their PokerStars Account

A new policy change at PokerStars will no longer offer players in some regulated markets the opportunity to buy into live tournaments through the room’s client.

Announced with a message published on the Two Plus Two poker forum, the new measure will affect all PokerStars players from UK, Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, and Estonia.

"Players on 'dot be', 'dot bg', 'dot dk', 'dot ee' and 'dot uk' licensed operations are no longer able to buy into live events sponsored by PokerStars using funds from their PokerStars account," the PokerStars Live Events team stated.

The policy change will not affect the players who hold an account at the international versions of PokerStars, as they will still be allowed to buy in and register to live events from the room’s client. "Players on and .eu are still able to buy in through their PokerStars account," the representative said.

PokerStars' note came as an answer to some messages left by players who asked for clarifications regarding the possibility to buy in to the room's live events using the funds available on their accounts.

"Unfortunately, we are not able to offer this service going forward," the representative of PokerStars Live Team explained. "While we would like to be able to allow players to directly buy-in to live events using money in their PokerStars account, we are simply not permitted to offer such services going forward."

The room's decision to disallow the purchase of tournaments' buy-ins from the clients that operate in regulated markets come as a part of PokerStars' new general policy that want the room to work in tighter connection with gambling regulatory bodies and in full respect of each and every national gambling legislation.
