Patrick Leonard Reclaims Worldwide Number One Ranking

Patrick Leonard Reclaims Worldwide Number One Ranking 0001

Remember remember the fifth of November when Patrick Leonard returned to the top, the top the worldwide rankings that is! For the second time in 2014, Leonard’s name is the one at the very top of the leader board and rightly so because the man from the North East has been one of the most consistent players on the planet for some time now.

We previously mentioned that Leonard would be upping his volume in order to reclaim the top spot and that appears to have been the case. During the past seven days Leonard has won the $320 buy-in NL Hold’em 6-Max for $6,213 and The Bigger $55 for $41,600 plus finished third in The Big $109 for $12,584 all at PokerStars. The man is in ridiculous form and nothing seems to be able to slow him down.

Congratulations on reclaiming the number one rank, let’s see if you can hold onto it until the end of the year and beyond!

Leonard now has a 1,000 point gap between himself and Rick Trigg in the United Kingdom standings despite Trigg finishing fourth in the partypoker Pokerfest Main Event for $18,335. Trigg has a chance of winning the PokerStars Tournament Leader Board (TLB) so expect him to be putting in even more volume than usual, which should lead to more big cashes and wins.

Soaring up the UK rankings this week is Jareth East thanks to some impressive results at PokerStars and Full Tilt. Since the rankings were last updated, some of East’s highlights include:

  • 2nd place in the PokerStars $88 NL Hold’em 4-Max Turbo for $912
  • 2nd place in the PokerStars $109 NL Hold’em Turbo for $2,256
  • 3rd place in the PokerStars $88 NL Hold’em 4-Max Turbo for $558
  • 3rd place in the Full Tilt Poker Saturday Six-Max for $2,093
  • 5th place in the PokerStars $82 NL Hold’em 6-max Hyper for $2,826
  • 2nd in the PokerStars $25 NL Hold’em Hyper for $4,673
  • 5th in the Full Tilt Poker Tyrannosaurus Rex for $1,451
  • 1st in the Full Tilt Poker Turbo Hundo for $3,300
  • 2nd in the PokerStrs Hot $75 Turbo for $9,127

Climbing into the UK’s top 20 this week is Cardiff’s Andy Holman. The man known as “andyh26” at PokerStars comes in at 18th in the UK, which translates to 206th in the world. Holman has more than $1.5 million in online tournament winnings, most of which coming from mid-stakes tournaments.

Holman has been going deep in tons of tournaments of late and can brag about a win in the PokerStars $51 NL Hold’em Hyper for $3,473, a runner-up finish in the Hot $22 for $2,855 and a fourth place in the $109 NL Holdem Turbo for $3,401 in the past week. It will be interesting to see if Holman becomes a regular in the high stakes games now that is seems to be on something of a heater.

The winter months are traditionally busier in the online poker world as grinders avoid the cold of the outdoors and try to build their bankrolls in anticipation of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure and Aussie Millions that kick off the New Year. This should result in plenty to shout about for British online poker tournament players as 2014 comes to an end.
