When Day 1a of the 2014 Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) only attracted 46 players, hitting the £200,000 guarantee on Day 1b was an unlikely occurrence. Day 1b saw 125 entries taken, taking the total attendance to 171 and leaving the GUKPT to add some £29,000 to the prize pool.
Scores of the United Kingdom's top poker talented headed to the seaside town to grab some of the extra value in the tournament, but they were all out-chipped by Nathan Slater who finished the night with by far the largest stack, one containing 173,400 chips.
Slater's nearest rivals on Day 1b were Carl Harris and Alex Lindop who bagged up 109,500 and 108,000 respectively.
Also safely through to Saturday's Day 2 are Tom Ambler (96,625), online poker's world number one Patrick Leonard (79,150), former Irish Open winner James Mitchell (59,050), Andrew Hills (52,325), reigning GUKPT Blackpool champion Rick Trigg (49,900), Joe Beevers (39,150), Paul Jackson (28,525), Steve Holden (21,550), Jeff Kimber (17,775), Matt Davenport (17,675) and Ellie Biessek (15,075).
