For the past couple of months, online tournament grinders from the United Kingdom and Ireland have crushed the PokerStars Sunday Million. Last week, Luke “LFmagic” Fields finished fifth, the previous week “duke_of_fluk” chopped it for $155,425.02 and the week before “BigTurtle11” chopped for $141,836.70.
Prior to those impressive results were “luetch1” winning it, Marc “sluglife” Macdonnell finishing third and both Rob Tinnion and Christopher Johnson taking down online poker's largest weekly tournament. This weekend two of our players were involved in a five-way split that say them take home a combined $223,558.21!
Ben “F3nix35” Dobson, fresh from a deep run in the 2014 partypoker WPT UK Main Event, returned home and to the Sunday grind with superb results. Having finished 16th in the Sunday Kickoff, Dobson managed to navigate his way through the majority of the 6,729 field in the Sunday Million where he eventually fell in fourth place, but not before negotiating a deal that saw him take home $103,638.84 – almost $30,000 more than fourth place was scheduled to receive!
If Dobson's superb performance wasn't enough to get the excitement levels at UK & Ireland PokerNews HQ to fever pitch, the fact that Ireland's “LeNaber” went all the way and won this week's Sunday Million and $119,919.37 certainly did! Awesome work guys, what a way to end the weekend!
Other big Sunday wins at PokerStars include a $13,959.00 score for “CkiLePatr0n?” who finished seventh in the Sunday Warm-Up, Cardiff's “LAP1293” bagging $7,434.00 for his seventh place in the Sunday 2nd Chance and Niall “Firaldo87” Farrell who collected $4,356.00 by finishing sixth in the Sunday 6-Max.
Over at Full Tilt, “Mrluckypants” helped himself to $14,336.00 when he came fourth in The Sunday Major, while the Super Sized Sunday ended in ninth place for Ireland's “Wine or Whiskey” a finish worth $2,457.00.
The Full Tilt T-Rex almost had to be renamed the Brit-Rex after “pokerk1ng133,” Ben “SPRAGGS” Spraggons and Paul “xxxCelticFCxxx” Febers finished second, fifth and sixth for scores of $10,206.75, $4,444.88 and $3,292.50.
Yet again it was another superb Sunday for the UK & Irish grinders, let's hope it continues into the rest of the week and through to the end of 2014 and beyond!
