Fans of low-stakes poker tournaments are rejoicing today after PokerStars announced its popular MicroMillions returns on November 6.
Now in its ninth edition, the MicroMillions gives PokerStars players the chance to compete in a massive online poker festival, similar to the World Championship Of Online Poker (WCOOP), but for a fraction of the costs associated with such things.
MicroMillions 9 features 100 events with combined guaranteed prize pools of $5,000,000. Not only is five million dollars a huge figure, it’s quite ridiculous when one considers that buy-ins for MicroMillions events start as low as $0.11 and top out at $11 – although the Main Event does command a slightly larger buy-in.
The $22 buy-in MicroMillions 9 Main Event takes place on Sunday 16 November and you should do everything in your power to play it. Despite its low buy-in, the Main Event’s prize pool is guaranteed to top at least $1,000,000 and at least $100,000 of that gigantic sum is set aside for the eventual champion.
When MicroMillions 8 ran in July, its Main Event attracted 57,886 players to it, including the vast majority of PokerStars’ stable of top poker talent. Hungary’s “69FABIAN69” outlasted everyone and took home an impressive $100,668.11 for his victory, a sum that could have been larger had he not agreed to a heads-up chop with Austria’s “RoxyDeluxe,” who claimed $85,216.01 for finishing second.
In addition to $5,000,000 worth of guarantees to play for, the top 100 performing players across the series win additional prizes. You are awarded between 5 and 100 leader board points depending on where you finish in each of the MicroMillions 9 events and if you accumulate enough to finish in the top 100 you will win a Sunday Million ticket worth $215, five Sunday Million tickets or Sunday Million tickets for six months!
If that’s not enough to get you to try play in all of the MicroMillions events, we don’t know what is.
