Leonard Returns to Top Spot In UK Online Rankings After Hat Trick of Big Scores

Patrick Leonard

Patrick “pleno1” Leonard has returned to the top of the PocketFives.com UK online poker rankings after a hat trick of big scores at the start of the week. The former world number one has climbed back up to seventh in the global standings, too.

On Sunday night, Leonard navigated his way to a third place finish in the Full Tilt Poker Sunday major to lock up $18,164. During the same night, Leonard finished third in the PokerStars Bigger $55 for a cool $20,237 and followed that up with an outright victory in the PokerStars.fr Monday Night on Stars for the equivalent of $13,146.

That trio of impressive results pushed Leonard points tally past the 7,100 mark an there are now almost 300 points between himself and second placed Team PokerStars Online Vincent Delgado.

The rest of the top 10 remains the same as last week with the only difference being Oscar “MendaLerenda” Serradell leapfrogging Rhys “floppinhel” Jones into eighth place. In fact the whole top 20 is almost identical to what it was at the last update after what was a quiet week for our grinders. Billy “BillyChat” Chattaway dropped out of the top 20 and EPT Loutraki champion Zimnan Ziyard replaced him, that being the only change in the leaderboard.

Killeen Still Reigns in Ireland

Across the Irish Sea it is Kevin “SuitedAcesBaby” Killeen who is still top dog, but he’s facing intense pressure from the chasing pack, especially from former number one Jude Ainsworth.

It appears that Ainsworth is returning to the form that saw him dominate the Irish standings, with him bagging several four-figure scores in his exploits at French facing poker sites, particularly Winamax.

The player known as “gruaiggorm” is another man on fire right now. A win in the PokerStars Bigger $109 for $47,116 was followed up with a win in the $54 NL Hold’em Turbo Knockout ($3,892) and a runner-up finish in the $109 NL Hold’em Turbo ($5,425). Gruaiggorm is now only a few points away from improving his 10th place on the Irish leaderboard.

Further down the list is the name of Sean “monkeybudgie” Prendiville who finds himself in 14th place thanks in part to banking a $30,833 score a few weeks ago when he won the Hotter $75 at PokerStars

We expect it to be another quiet week for the UK & Irish online grinders thanks to the UKIPT and European Poker Tour festivals taking place in London. However, with a large percentage of the top 20 in each country currently grinding in the live arena, the door is open for those in the chasing pack to mount a charge up the rankings and outs those above them from their lofty positions.
