First Episode of the PokerStars Shark Cage Airs Tonight 0001

If you love televised poker shows then you need to set your alarm, or recording hardware of choice, for 12:35am on Wednesday morning because the first heat of the $1,000,000 winner-takes-all PokerStars Shark Cage airs on Channel 4.

The eagerly anticipated show includes eight heats filmed in luxurious locations such as the Bahamas, Barcelona and Monte-Carlo and pits five poker pros and celebrities against an online qualifier who all compete for a seat in the London finale.

Wednesday morning’s Episode 1 takes place during the 2014 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure festivities and features Tony Dunst, Jennifer Harman, Lex Veldhuis, Phil Laak and Jason Alexander go to battle with an online qualifier.

Setting the Shark Cage apart from other poker shows is the emphasis of table talk, a 30-second “shot clock” known as Play Against the Clock, rewards and penalties for successful – and unsuccessful – river bluffs and the fact there are no deals allowed so the eventual winner scoops the entire $1,000,000 prize.

Here’s a sneak preview of Episode 1 of the Shark Cage.

Should you get the urge to put your poker skills to the ultimate test after watching Shark Cage, you may want to keep one eye on the PokerStars lobby from November 3 because online qualifiers for Season 2 start then.

Like Season 1, the first two heats of Season 2 take place at the PCA so if you win your way to a heat you also bag yourself a welcomed trip to the Bahamas, too!
