The Villa Marina in Douglas is the venue for the second annual United Kingdom & Ireland Poker Tour and everything is pointing towards the festival being spectacular. UKIPT Isle of Man was one of the most unforgettable stops on the popular tour during Season 3 and Season 4 should be everything its predecessor was and more.
Kicking off proceedings is a £100+£10 No Limit Hold’em Six-Handed Turbo event at 8:00 p.m on October 1, but it is the £350,000 guaranteed Main Event that has set chins wagging across the UK, Ireland and beyond.
The £700+£70 UKIPT Isle of Man has a new twist to it this year in that players who bust during October 2’s Day 1a can re-enter on Day 1b and have a second bite at the proverbial cherry. While nobody plans on being eliminated during the first day of action, it is often unavoidable during high-class poker tournaments and this safety net will be welcomed by those who make the journey across the Irish Sea to the British Crown Dependency and home of PokerStars.
Another new tournament that has captured the imagination of the poker community takes place at 6:00 p.m. on October 3 costing £200+£20 to enter. For the first time in UKIPT history, PokerStars is combining No Limit Hold’em poker and the strategy game Chess into a tournament. Exactly how that pans out remains to be seen, but we’re sure that the 40 player cap will be reached and reports aplenty will emanate from the Isle of Man during and after the ground-breaking combo-event.

When the UKIPT last dropped anchor at the Isle of Man, it was Duncan McLellan whose name was plastered all over poker news outlets around the world after he took down the prestigious Main Event and claimed its £94,090 prize.
McLellan should be on the island in an attempt to defend his title, as are such luminaries as the Full Tilt Poker Ambassadors Dermot Blain, Sin Melin and Martins Adeniya, the in-form Daragh “Daragh999” Davey, Ludovic Geilich, Jon Spinks, Marcin Milde, Steve O’Dwyer, Paul Febers, Nicholas Newport, and Team PokerStars Pros Christophe De Meulder, Jake Cody, Matthias De Meudler, Chris Moneymaker, Theo Jorgensen and last year’s runner-up Fatima Moriera de Melo.
