Less Than One Month Until the UKIPT Returns Home

UKIPT Isle of Man

The United Kingdom and Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) returns to the home of its sponsor, PokerStars, for the second year running on October 1 and every is pointing towards it being bigger, better and even more exciting than the 2013 edition.

Once again, the well-received Villa Marina in Douglas is the venue for the UKIPT Isle of Man festival and it plays host to 14 fantastic events, including a £2,200 No Limit Hold’em 8-Handed High Roller and the £350,000 guaranteed UKIPT Isle of Man Main Event.

When the UKIPT visited its home in October 2013, the £1,100 buy-in Main Event attracted 381 players from the UK, Ireland and across Europe and the same is expected to occur this time around.

Top players such as Mitch Johnson, Robbie Bull, Sam Grafton, Nick Abou Risk, former BMX champion Liam Batey, Dara “Doke” O’Kearney, Simon Deadman, Full Tilt Poker Ambassador Ben Jenkins, Jack Ellwood, and even Team PokerStars Pro Barry Greenstein reached the money places, but there were all outlasted by the bricklayer from Corby, Duncan McLellan.

McLellan bamboozled his final table opponents with his unorthodox style of play and eventually defeated the popular Fatima Moriera De Melo heads-up to claim the £94,090 first place prize and the title of the UKIPT Isle of Man champion.

Since his victory, McLellan has become somewhat of a regular on the UK poker circuit and has even delved into the shark-infested waters of the European Poker Tour. Winning the 2014 UKIPT Isle of Man Main Event could give your poker career a huge boost, too.

Getting the 2014 festival under way is a £50+£5 Super Satellite that guarantees at least 10 seats to the Main Event and a £100+£10 Six-Handed Turbo.

Unlike the majority of the UKIPT Main Events, this year’s Isle of Man Main Event is being played to a single re-entry format, meaning if you bust out on Day 1a you can re-enter on Day 1b. However, should you bust on Day 1b, it is game over and you will have to entertain yourself in one of the many side events instead.
