Jareth East Wins WCOOP-47 To Secure His First Six-Figure Score

Jareth East Wins WCOOP-47 To Secure His First Six-Figure Score 0001

In years to come, Surrey’s Jareth East will look back at his 71st online poker tournament victory with great fondness and will possibly say it was his greatest achievement. Why? Because win number 71 just so happened to be East taking down Event #47 of the 2014 World Championship Of Online Poker (WCOOP)!

Before WCOOP-47 kicked off on Monday, East had already amassed in excess of $1.7 million in online tournament winnings, yet had never had a six-figure score. East has 10 wins over $20,000 including one for $55,555 and another for $82,650, the latter being awarded for his fifth place finish in the Full Tilt Poker FTOPS Main Event. Now East can boast of a magical six figure score, one weighing in at $132,199.50.

East outlasted a 2,789 field in the $320 NL Hold’em Re-Entry, a tournament with an $836,700 prize pool. Joining East in the latter stages of the event were fellow Brits Paul “Senterpied” Senter (30th for $2,175.42), Charlie “JIZOINT” Combes (20th for $2,593.77), Ben “vindog3” Vinson (19th for $2,593.77) and Keith “kingfumonk” Johnson (7th for $20,499.15).

East’s heads-up opponent was Nathan “ragingquads_” Tuthill, who went into the finale with our hero holding an 8.94 million to 5 million chip lead. East managed to draw level and was narrowly in front when the following hand took place.

A min-raise to 280,000 from East was greeted with a 694,300 three-bet from Tuthill. East responded with a 1,598,000 four-bet and then called when Tuthill jammed all-in for 6,907,520 in total.

It was a hand where the chips were always going to finish in the middle of the felt because East held {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds} and Tuthill {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}. The door card was the {A-Spades} to put East in front, and that’s where he stayed because the other four community cards fell {J-Spades}{4-Spades}{7-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}, busting Tuthill and leaving East as the last man standing.

Thomas “GaggleoKings” Ambler had a good result on Wednesday night, finishing sixth in WCOOP-49 for $11,604.00 while mixed game specialist Adam “adamyid” Owen secured a $14,105.00 payout by finishing fourth in the $530 buy-in Razz WCOOP event.

Thursday sees the completion of the special edition of the Super Tuesday where 111 of the 1,618 players remain including Lee “BWFCLee” Taylor, Rupert “ElRupert” Elder, and Elior “Crazy Elior” Sion.
