Once known primarily as a heads-up specialist, Ankush "pistons87" Mandavia is now recognized as one of the most decorated online tournament players in the world. Mandavia has racked up victories across many of the major online tournament series, including the WCOOP and SCOOP at PokerStars and the FTOPS at Full Tilt Poker, and has recorded earnings of more than $2.3 million (according to PocketFives.com).
More than $585,000 of those earnings came this past weekend at PokerStars, where Mandavia finished runner-up in WCOOP Event #23: $10,300 No-Limit Hold'em 8-Max. As you'd expect, the event featured one of the hardest-hitting final tables of the series, one that included Mustapha "lasagnaaammm" Kanit, Ben "Sauce123" Sulsky, Dimitar "KuuL" Danchev, and Doug "WCG|Rider" Polk.
Ultimately, Mandavia negotiated a deal with Vicente "vicenfish" Delgado Zamorano before losing to the Portuguese pro heads-up.
