Elior Sion and Daniel “19Dan86” Rudd Bank More Than $1.5MM in 2014 WCOOP Main Event

Elior "Crazy Elior" Sion

The 2014 World Championship Of Online Poker (WCOOP) Main Event concluded on Tuesday morning with a six-way chop and British pros Elior Sion and “19Dan86” were among those splitting the prize pool for life-changing sums of cash.

Day 1 ended with 271 players and on the stone cold bubble because 270 spots were paid. Popular grinder Matt Stout was the unfortunate bubble boy, paving the way for other to collect a minimum of $12,316.50 for their efforts.

Top British talent such as Team PokerStars Online Alex Millar (262nd - $12,316.50), Paul “pvas2” Vas Nunes (230th - $12,852.00), John “HonestPete” Tabatabai (212nd - $13,387.50), Rhys “floppinhel” Jones (160th - $14,458.50), Craig “mcc3991” McCorkell (96th - $19,813.50), Ludovic “ludovi333” Geilich (67th - $23,026.50), Team PokerStars Pro Jake Cody (59th - $24,097.50), Adam “Demonic16” Picken (51st - $26,239.50), Oliver “ollie_p” Price (32nd - $33,201.00), and “dickler1” (19th - $38,556.00) each collect some prize money along the way.

When the final table was reached, it house a trio of players who call the United Kingdom home. In addition to the aforementioned Daniel “19Dan86” Ruddand Elior Sion, the hyper-aggressive London-based Swede Viktor “Isildur1” Blom was also present and correct.

6Viktor “Isildur1” BlomUK1,284,346
8Elior “Crazy Elior” SionUK3,122,846

Blom was the first casualty of the final table, pushing all-in from middle position for 10 big blinds with {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} and running into the {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds} of Sion. The board ran out {3-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{J-Hearts} and Blom was gone.

One hand after Blom busted, “MaltLiquor40” fell by the wayside. With blinds at 50,000/100,000, MaltLiquor40 open-shoved for 1,768,620 from the cutoff with {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs} only to be looked up by Brazil’s Yuri “theNERDguy” Martins in the small blind who held {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds}.

The {7-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{K-Spades} board failed to come to MaltLiquor40s rescue and he crashed out in eighth place.

More than 30 minutes passed by without an exit, but that fact changed when Sion raised to 280,500 from early position, “neckbr4ke” three-bet to 575,125 from the button and Dylan “Pokerl)evil” Hortin four-bet jammed for 1,270,072 from the big blind. Sion re-shoved, neckbr4ke folded and the cards revealed.

Pokerl)eviL: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}
Sion: {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}

Sion looked set to double his opponent up, that was until the {7-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} flop came into view to gift him a set. Hortin was still alive, any queen or diamond would save him, but the {5-Spades} on the turn took away his flush outs. The {9-Clubs} landed on the river and Hortin exited from the tournament.

The final six players then discussed a deal, eventually settling on ICM-based figures, with the chip leaders taking a little more from the shorter stacks and leaving $200,000 to play for.

One of the Brits, Daniel “19Dan86” Rudd was the first post-deal player to bust. After losing a large pot when his {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} failed to get there against martins’ {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}, Rudd pushed all in for 2,448,310 from the button (blinds were 70,000/140,000) with {A-Spades}{7-Spades} and will count himself unlucky for running into the dominating {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} of neckbr4ke in the big blind. Neither player improved on the {K-Clubs}{4-Spades}{2-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{3-Hearts} board and Rudd was gone.

Faraz Jaka was the next player to head home, although after winning $945,000 I doubt he was too upset about it. A preflop raising war between Jaka, CrownUpGuy and Martins results in a Martins six-bet shove with {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} and a Jaka call with {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}.

Those pocket tens remained best on the {2-Spades}{4-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} board and the man known as “The-Toilet 0” became the fifth place finisher.

Next to fall was the last remaining Brit, Sion. A raise to 320,000 from CrownUpGuy was met with a three-bet all-in for 1,985,443 by Sion and a call from the initial raiser. Sion showed {A-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} and CrownUpGuy {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}.

The {4-Spades}{7-Spades}{K-Hearts} flop was followed into view by the {Q-Clubs} turn and the {2-Hearts} river and Sion had $780,227.66 added to his PokerStars account.

One of tournament poker’s many coinflip dispatched neckbr4ke to the rail. Neckbr4ke needed his {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} to hold against CrownUpGuy’s {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}, but it fell behind on the {5-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{Q-Spades} flop and never caught up by the river.

Thanks in part to winning neckbr4ke’s stack, CrownUpGuy went into the heads-up battle with Martins holding a 27,956,040 to 14,883,960 chip lead and it only took a dozen hands to press home that advantage.

The final hand saw CrownUpGuy raise to 600,000 from the button and Martins call. Both players checked the arrival of the {8-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} flop, Martins leading for 750,000 on the {J-Diamonds} turn. CrownUpGuy called and the {10-Spades} appeared on the river.

Martins led for 1.8 million, CrownUpGuy moved all-in and Martins quickly called off his remaining 7 million chips. Martins displayed the {4-Clubs}{4-Hearts} in front of him for a full house, but CrownUpGuy held {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs} for quad tens!
