In last week’s recap of the United Kingdom’s online poker rankings, I put my neck on the line and said that Chris Moorman would be ranked number one in the world by PocketFives.com by the time 2015 began. He is still a little way off – he’s currently ranked 21st worldwide – but he’s started to climb back towards the lofty position that everyone in the online poker world believes is rightfully his.
Moorman is approaching $12 million in online tournament winnings, a figure that he will reach in no time at all if he continues on his current good form. In recent weeks, Moorman has won his 21st and 22nd PocketFives Triple Crowns and then had more than 20 cashes at the virtual felt including an outright win in the $8.80 rebuy at PokerStars for $6,993 and a runner-up finish in the $109 NL Hold’em rebuy for $5,848 also at PokerStars.
The online legend is now ranked third in the UK and is almost 600 points behind second placed Rick Trigg and 1,300 behind current leader Patrick Leonard, but I could never bet against Moorman in anything poker related, especially when it comes to online rankings.
Leonard is still the UK’s number one ranked player, although he has slipped to second place in the worldwide standings, this despite taking down the Winamax High Roller for $6,479 and a $25 NL Hold’em 6-Max Hyper at PokerStars for $5,147. Leonard now has until the end of today to win a tournament on a different site if he wants to claim the second Triple Crown of his career.
One player who is collecting their second Triple Crown is Sheffield’s Rick Trigg, who won the Poker770 €12,500 GTD Rebuy for $4,582 on August 14, the a $109 NL Hold’em rebuy at PokerStars for $4,120 on August 18 and last night binked the XPERT at Winamax for $4,505 – although the Winamax result is yet to be added to his points tally.
Trigg is currently ranked second in the UK and seventh in the world.
Climbing into fifth place this week is Conor “1_conor_b_1” Beresford, as would you if you had taken down the $215 NL Hold’em Turbo $20,000 GTD on August 12 and then again on August 14! Beresford is one of the rare breed that only lists his PokerStars results and none of the other sites that he plays on. Surely he is crushing elsewhere and could be challenging for a top pot if he listed his other aliases in his profile?
Other movers and shakers this week include Rhys “floppinhel” Jones who is up to 11th in the UK on the back of a tremendous run of results.
Jones won the Full Tilt Poker FTOPS Event #28 for over $93,000 on Sunday, finished eighth in the PokerStars.fr Summer Special for $2,679 and then seventh in the Full Tilt Poker Turbo Multi-Hundo for $2,297. Then last night, Jones finished second in the $215 NL Hold’em event at PokerStars for $6,448.
Leeds’ Tom Middleton has climbed to 12th place following his win, and $53,000 score, in the FTOPS Event #30, while Spain’s Oscar “MendaLerenda” Serradell is now 13th thanks in part to a fifth place in the $109 Sunday Rebuy ($12,716) and runner-up finish in the Bigger $55 ($28,129) both at PokerStars.
Big shout out to Allan “bigal37” Peers who is in the hunt for his fourth Triple Crown after winning The Full Tilt Poker Monday Mayhem ($4,833) and the $10,000 Gtd Major at partypoker ($1,825) lon Monday night.

Tomas Geleziunas Tops the Irish Rankings; Kevin Killeen Up to Second
Tomas “luckymo32” Geleziunas’ ability to put in more volume than almost anyone else on the planet sees him hold onto top spot in the Irish online poker rankings, but he is facing stiff competition from the reigning UKIPT Dublin champion Kevin “SuitedAcesBaby” Killeen.
Killeen hasn’t played this week, perhaps taking a short break from online poker following a superb seven days the week before. The Dubliner finished fourth in the PokerStars.fr Sunday Night Live for $14,279 and followed that up with a sixth place in the Full Tilt Poker T-Rex for $3,648 and a 10th place in the PokerStars Super Tuesday for $7,608. He now finds himself ranked 159th in the world, the highest position he’s ever achieved.
