Rick Trigg Returns to the Online Poker Rankings Worldwide Top 10
A Buzzfeed article appeared on my Facebook wall this morning that gave 45 reasons why Yorkshire is better than our arch rivals Lancashire. While the article was quite accurate – Yorkshire is God’s Own County after all, it should have shown 46 reasons with one of those being Rick Trigg’s from here!
Sheffield’s Trigg, better-known to some as “theclaimeer,” has climbed back into the top 10 of the PocketFives.com online poker rankings and is now ranked 7th in the entire world! There are very few players who can match Trigg for his work ethic and consistency. All of that hard work is paying off as Trigg continues to go deep in some of the biggest and toughest tournaments that online poker has to offer.
Some of Trigg’s recent results include:
- A win in the PokerStars Hot $16.50 for $8,690
- A 3rd place in the PokerStars $54 NL Hold’em Turbo for $2,735
- A 2nd place in the PokerStars $82 NL Hold’em Hyper Turbo for $6,745
- A 2nd place in the PokerStars $25 NL Hold’em 6-Max hyper for $1,989
- A win in the Ongame $500 buy-in event for $8,402.44
The gap between Trigg and Chris Moorman in the UK standings is less than 300 points and if Trigg continues to log his unbelievable volume then it is only a matter of time before he reclaims the UK number one spot and betters his best worldwide ranking of sixth. Good luck, sir. Do it for Yorkshire!
Also on the climb in the worldwide rankings is Niall “firaldo87” Farrell who soared to 35th place – his highest-ever rank – thanks in part to his massive $236,233 score in the latest Full Tilt Poker FTOPS Main Event. In addition to the huge prize, Farrell also picked up 1,238.63 leader board points and they were enough to boost him to his current lofty perch in the worldwide standings and to fifth in the UK.

Climbing into the Top 20 is Conor Beresford, who is known as “1_conor_b_1” at PokerStars where he has over $810,000 in cashes. I’ve seen his screen name crop up everywhere of late, usually towards the top of the payout tables showing he a player in form.
Recently, Beresford won the Hot $75 at PokerStars for $13,267 while in mid-March he came fifth in the Sunday Kickoff ($7,644), won The Hotter $55 ($25,430) and finished fourth in the Sunday Supersonic ($23,794).
That’s all we have time for this week, but be sure to return for next week’s update where we have a sneaky feeling Trigg will have climbed even higher and some of the chasing pack will be mounting a charge to jump into the Top 20 ranked players in the UK.
