£1 Million Sky Poker 6-Max UK Poker Championships Unveiled

Sky Poker 6-Max UK Poker Championships

Sky Poker has again joined forces with the Dusk Till Dawn casino to create a festival that has the players in mind. Coming to Nottingham in August is the inaugural Sky Poker 6-Max UK Poker Championships that have £1 million in prizes guaranteed across its six events!

In February 2014, the inaugural Sky Poker UK Poker Championships ran at the Dusk Till Dawn (DTD) casino and absolutely everyone involved in them, from the players to excellent staff who kept everything ticking over smoothly, agreed they were a roaring success. One of the most popular events on that schedule was the £500+£50 No Limit Hold’em Six Max event. This tournament featured a £100,000 guarantee, which was obliterated when 402 players bought in and created a prize pool of more than double that amount.

Now Sky Poker and DTD have joined forces once more to give fans of short-handed poker what they really want and that is a major festival with huge guarantees where all of the tournaments are played to a six-max format!

Kicking off on Thursday 7 August and running through to Sunday 17 August, is the Sky Poker 6-Max UK Poker Championships, an 11-day festival of short-handed joy! Featuring six six-max events that have combined prize pools of a cool £1 million, the Sky Poker 6-Max UK Poker Championships looks set to create even more buzz than its full ring counterpart.

The opening event is billed as a 6-Max Mini, but the only thing mini about it is its £250 buy-in. Despite a relatively small buy-in, the 6-Max Mini sports a whopping £150,000 guaranteed prize pool, which includes 50 seats to the £1,000 buy-in Main Event.

Another massive guarantee is in place for the £3,000 High Roller event that opens its doors on Monday 11 August. This event boasts a £150,000 guarantee, but I believe the prize pool will be much higher as some of the best poker talent the UK has to offer descends on Nottingham in their quest to become a High Roller champion.

The largest guarantee of them all stands at a colossal £500,000, which is reserved for the £1,000 buy-in 6-Max Main Event. DTD and Sky poker have a reputation for pushing the boundaries of tournament poker and slapping a half-million guarantee on a £1,000 6-Max event does just that. I can only imagine the calibre of player who will be locking horns at the DTD felt during the 6-Max Main Event.

Other 6-Max events include a £500 Pot Limit Omaha (£50,000 guarantee), a £500 Turbo event (£150,000 guarantee) and a £500 Hyper-Turbo (£50,000 guarantee).

Richard Milner, Head of Sky Poker, said of the new 6-Max festival: “After the success of the inaugural Sky Poker UK Poker Championships earlier this year, we are delighted to announce this additional 6-Max festival. With the excellent team and facilities that DTD offer, we’re sure it will be a great event and we know that 6-Max is very popular with Sky Poker customers. The previous event was full of many well-known and high profile favourites from the UK poker scene and we expect the same this time.”

Satellites to the £500,000 guaranteed Main Event will start to appear in the Sky Poker lobby from Monday 21 April. As is usually the case with Sky Poker events, there will be a plethora of promotions focussed on the 6-Max UK Poker Championships that will be full of value for Sky Poker customers. Keep checking back to UK & Ireland PokerNews over the coming months for more details on those special promotions, some of which will see players compete for an anticipated six-figure prize for free!
