Max Silver Climbs To Second in the UK GPI Rankings

Max Silver

Max Silver finds himself ranked second in the United Kingdom and a career high 51st in the entire world after the latest update to the Global Poker Index.

Silver has been in scintillating form for the past 18 months and if his rich form continues, it is surely only a matter of when and not if he topples long-time leader Stephen Chidwick from the number spot in the UK rankings.

Below are a handful of Silver’s results from the past 18 months; we’re 100% sure that you’ll agree with us that they make impressive reading.

  • 9th from 860 in the €1,100 UKIPT Galway Main Event for €13,100
  • 2nd from 176 in the £2,200 UKIPT London High Roller for £59,906
  • 1st from 25 in the £2,200 UKIPT Isle of Man High Roller for £20,800
  • 6th from 1007 in the €5,300 EPT Prague Main Event for €160,200
  • 9th from 1031 in the $10,300 PCA Main Event for $135,400
  • 1st from 127 in the £330 UKIPT Edinburgh Edinburgh Cup for £10,280
  • 2nd in the €770 UKIPT Dublin Main Event for €53,700

Also making moves in the right direction is Chris Moorman, who now finds himself ranked fifth in the UK and 78th in the world. Moorman skyrocketed up the leader board thanks to his win in the World Poker Tour L.A. Poker Classic that not only netted him a cool $1,015,460 but also a whopping 622.25 rankings points.

As you can see from the current top 20, it is only going to take a win or a few deep runs for any of the top 20 to close the gap significantly on the players above them. With Genting Poker Series Sheffield in full swing, UKIPT Nottingham only a month away and EPT stops in Vienna, San Remo and Monte Carlo on the horizon, the rankings could be turned completely in its head.

Oliver Price Leads the 2014 Player of the Year Race

London’s Oliver Price, a former winner of the PokerStars Sunday Million, is the man to catch in the 2014 UK Player of the Year race. Price may be a cash game specialist by trade but that has not stopped him racking up some great results in live tournaments.

Price helped himself to €271,200 after finishing third in the EPT Deauville Main Event and followed up that impressive result with an outright win in the 2014 Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) London Main Event, a result that netted him £86,400. Price also made a deep run in the WPT L.A. Poker Classic Main Event, eventually finishing 28th for $36,400.

Those three results have seen Price leapfrog the likes of Team PokerStars Pro Liv Boeree, Jeremy Nock and Simon Deadman in the POY race.
