Jon Spinks Becomes a Father; Chris Moorman To Marry

Jon Spinks and Chris Moorman

Two of the United Kingdom’s most talented poker players shared fantastic news over the weekend, stories that can’t help but banish the mere thought of the dreaded Monday Blues.

Jon Spinks, currently ranked ninth in the UK for online poker tournaments, became a father over the weekend when his fiancée, Cathy, gave birth to a beautiful baby girl in the small hours of Saturday morning.

Spinks shared his happy news via Facebook:

Cathy and I are delighted to announce the arrival of Sophie Rose Spinks at 2:03am on Saturday 22nd March! Both are doing great, so proud of my tremendous, amazing wife-to-be

Expect a training video from Spinks in the coming weeks on how to play 20 tables at the same time as changing a nappy while fuelled on three hours sleep!

Congratulations, Jon and Cathy!

The second piece of news that lit up my Monday morning was that of Chris Moorman proposing to his girlfriend Katie Lindsay and hearing a “Yes!”

I've had so many great times in my life but today when my surprise proposal to my girlfriend and best friend in the world was accepted and went perfectly to plan was by far and away the best of them all.

Moorman recently won the 2014 World Poker Tour L.A. Poker Classic Main Event for over $1 million and judging by the size of the rocks now adorning his fiancée’s finger, he’s spent a good chunk of that on the engagement ring!

Congratulations, Chris and Katie and all the best for the future.
