Only two dozen players remain in the 2014 partypoker World Poker Tour National UK London Main Event and those 24 are to be led back into battle on Sunday afternoon by David Gassian.
Gassian finished Day 2 of the £200 accumulator event with a tournament leading stack of 1,182,000 chips and was the only player to finish with more than one million chips. At the start 2014, Gassian took down the £275 Hippodrome Winter Classic for the largest tournament score of his career, the princely sum of £12,500. Now Gassian is looking to eclipse that impressive figure by claiming the £27,500 top prize in this event.
Standing between Gassian and glory are 23 players who have navigated their way through to the final day’s play and have done so on merit. Arvin Rajandran has 909,000 chips and starts the day second in chips, while Darren Mapley’s has 905,000 chips at his disposal.
Among the final 24 are some extremely talented players including former Irish Open champion James Mitchell (843,000), Laurence “rivermal” Houghton who has over $5.5 million in online winnings (721,000), Sky Poker UK Poker Championships Main Event finalist Charles Chattha (674,000) and American superstar Andrew Badecker (468,000).
