Ainsworth Still On Top In Ireland; Geleziunas Returns To The Virtual Felt

Jude Ainsworth

The Irish Online Poker Rankings are bang up to date and although there has been little change in the top 10 places on the leader board, there is still plenty to shout about.

Jude Ainsworth is still the number one ranked tournament player in Ireland; his position became more secure with a brace of outstanding results over the weekend. Ainsworth a former Team PokerStars Pro, won the €250 buy-in 6-Max Club at for $4,992 on Saturday night and followed that up with a runner-up finish in the $51 NL Hold’em Hyper-Turbo at for $5,428 on the Sunday.

Ainsworth also managed a ninth place finish in the partypoker $100,000 guaranteed High Roller for a shade under $2,100 and 87.73 leader board points, when there was $14,442 and 327,87 points available for the win.

Tomas “luckymo32” Geleziunas is a name that always seems to appear deep in tournaments, but he was notably absent over the past couple of weeks. In an interview with our friends at at the start of March, Geleziunas revealed he was in the middle of purchasing a house and is set to become a father any time now – possibly explaining his lack of volume.

Geleziunas burst back onto the online poker scene on Tuesday night with two outright victories. Luckymo32 won the $44 NL Hold’em 6-Max for $1,428 and then the $22 rebuy 6-Max for $2,894 in addition to 12 other cashes, all at PokerStars.

Popular pro Mick “BIGMICKG” Graydon’s recent run of good form continues with a couple of superb results on Sunday night. Graydon finished third in the PokerStars $51 NL Hold’em Hyper-Turbo ($4,017) and followed that up with a win in the $55 rebuy Big Antes for $7,791. Graydon is now only 264.42 points away from claiming a place in the top three.

A round of applause has to be directed to Dara O’Kearney for his win in the William Hill €7,000 guaranteed on Monday night; that result added $2,220 to his coffers.

Another standing ovation goes to Nelius Foley who had a remarkable Wednesday night when he won the Full Tilt Poker $4,000 guaranteed, took down the Titan Poker €5,000 Guaranteed and came third in the Titan Poker €2,500 Guaranteed Rebuy. Top work, “danceofddead.”

With there only being 400 or so points separating 11th and 20th place in the Irish rankings, a couple of big results could be the difference between falling off our radar and being catapulted towards the top 10. With the PokerStars MicroMillions throwing up some huge prizes, the WCOOP Challenge only a week or so away and Full Tilt Poker's latest FTOPS starting soon, there are plenty of chances to bank big scores in terms of both money and leader board points.
