Players Urged to Choose Day 1a of the UK Poker Championships Main Event

Sky Poker UK Poker Championships

Dusk Till Dawn supremo Rob Yong has urged players to choose Wednesday’s Day 1a as their straight flight for the £500,000 guaranteed Sky Poker UK Poker Championships Main Event after unprecedented interest in Day 1b.

The final start day is traditionally the most popular with poker players as they look to reduce travel and accommodation costs, and the £1,100 buy-in UK Poker Championships (UKPC) Main Event is no different.

Early this week, speaking via his blog, Yong asked the UKPC Main Event players for a favour. He wrote: “Yes, DTD is a damn big card room with 50 tables, but this event is really building some serious momentum now, and I am a little concerned that we could end up turning players away on Thursday (Day 1b) because so far everyone is choosing that day to play. Me and Simon (Trumper) have agreed there is no way we will deal this prestigious event 10-handed just to get more players in, so our capacity is 450 and we will also need extra tables for satellites, PLO and cash games later on.”

“The structure is so good that we don’t expect many bustouts between 1pm and 6pm when the PLO starts, therefore, I am appealing to those players who can play Wednesday Day 1a to help me out and play that day :) Thanks loads for anyone that helps me out with this.”

DTD has a reputation for going the extra mile in order to accommodate its players and has even seen Yong and his managerial staff deal at the tables in order to help process massive crowds, but this is the first time I remember that Yong has seemed worried about not being able to accommodate all of the expected entries.

A couple of days ago, Yong revealed that there are 450 players already registered and with satellites running up until Wednesday night, scores more could be in the mix — there is no doubt at all that the Main Event is going to smash its £500,000 guarantee.

Day 1a, for those of you who are wanting to aid Yong, kicks off at 1:00pm on Wednesday 19 February and has late registration open until 8:40pm. For your £1,100, you receive 30,000 chips, play to an hour-long clock and have the chance to compete for a prize pool in the region of £700,000! Quite ridiculous really when you think about it!

Among the massive crowds will be some of the United Kingdom’s best poker talent including the Sky Poker UKPC Ambassador Sam Trickett, The Devilfish, Barny Boatman, JP Kelly, Simon Deadman, Alex Goulder, Andrew Hulme, Neil Channing, Mitch Johnson, John Eames, Mat Frankland, plus Boris Becker, Team PokerStars Pro Marcel Luske and the infamous Tony G! it should be a momentous occasion and I would like to officially use my “one time” as I hope to bring a huge cash haul back to Yorkshire after the weekend!
