Paul Vas Nunes Wins The Sunday Warm-Up For $116K!

Paul Vas Nunes

Surrey’s Paul “pvas2” Vas Nunes continued the recent trend of British poker players smashing up the online Sunday majors by taking down the PokerStars Sunday Warm-Up for $116,369.57, the third largest cash of his career.

Vas Nunes, ranked 71st in the United Kingdom for online tournaments, outlasted a bumper crowd of 3,706 on his way to securing his eighth career victory. Vas Nunes had to lock horns with fellow Brit “PhilRoyal888” when the tournament reached the heads-up stages, but it was not a problem for Vas Nunes who brushed aside his opponent to claim the monster-sized first place prize for himself, with no chips! PhilRoyall888 banked an impressive $86,720.40 for his runner-up finish.

Charlie “JIZOINT” Combes added over $25,000 to his bankroll by finishing fourth in the PokerStars $109 Sunday Rebuy, a result that is sure to see him put pressure on Chris Moorman and Christopher Brammer in the UK online rankings. Combes was joined in the latter stages of the Sunday Rebuy by none other than Vas Nunes who finished in 10th place for $3,419.00 while Tom “GaggleoKings” Ambler came 9th for $4,786.00.

The final table of the Sunday 500 had three Brits at it, who finished 5th, 6th and 7th. “Kungfumonk” went the deepest and bagged a $21,268.80 score, while “infinity499” took home $16,880.00. Seventh place went to “talrushi” who walked away with $12,660.00.

Two other players who had a near miss were Toby “810ofclubs” Lewis who almost went all the way in the $215 Sunday 2nd Chance before falling short in 5th place, a result good for $13,622.40, and Mat “checktrap11” Cuthbertson; the latter finished 4th in the Sunday SuperSonic for $23,382.99.
