Jeremy Nock Climbs into Global Poker Index POY Top 10

Jeremy Nock

Following a blistering start to 2014, Jeremy Nock finds himself in the top 10 of the Global Poker Index 2014 Player of the Year leader board.

Nock kicked off 2014 in spectacular style by chopping the Deepstack Open in Paris four ways, resulting in a €46,750 payday. The Paris-based hotel developer followed up that impressive result with a deep run in the France Poker Series High Roller (24th place for €5,800), a fourth place finish in the Paris Open of Poker for €15,160 and more recently Nock won the £3,300 buy-in High Roller at the Sky Poker UK Poker Championships (UKPC) for £61,000.

This string of first class results have resulted in Nock climbing to 25th place in the UK Global Poker Index (GPI) rankings and 345th in the worldwide standing, Nock’s loftiest position to date. The Welshman also finds himself in second place in the 2014 UK player of the Year (POY) standings and 10th in the worldwide POY race, where he is rubbing shoulders with the likes of Mike “Timex” McDonald, Vanessa Selbst, Jason Mercier and Fabian Quoss.

Having spoken to the in-form Nock at the UKPC, I was informed that he plans on playing a much busier schedule in 2014 so keep an eye out in the chip counts for his name in various events around Europe and possibly at the upcoming World Series of Poker in Las Vegas.

In the actual UK GPI rankings it is still Stephen Chidwick who leads the way, followed by David Vamplew, Toby Lewis, Max Silver and the runner-up in Nock’s UKPC High Roller win Zimnan Ziyard.

Climbing into the top 10 after the latest update are Jack Salter and Team PokerStars Pro Liv Boeree. 26-year old Salter saw his points tally boosted by an emphatic victory at the 2014 Aussie Millions where he took down the $5,000 Six-Max event for a A$114,000 score.

Boeree, like Salter, was also in Australia and she managed a brace of scores. A 13th place finish in the opening “Accumulator” event and a 28th place in the A$10,600 Main Event added plenty of points to Boeree’s total, which is already at an impressive levels thanks to a runner-up finish in the UKIPT Edinburgh Main Event and a 50th place finish in the 2014 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Main Event.
