Social gaming giant Zynga has launched its real money poker client on Facebook, although it is currently only available to players based in the United Kingdom.
You may recall that, in April 2013, Zynga entered the real money poker market with its Zynga Plus Poker product, which utilises the partypoker network and its software. Like the new app, Zynga Plus Poker is only available to UK residents. At the time of its launch, the poker community speculated as to what effect the addition of Zynga’s massive player base would have on partypoker’s traffic. The results were disappointing to say the least with no noticeable difference in player traffic.
In July 2013, Zynga cancelled its plans to enter the US market as a real money online poker provider stating at the time that: “Zynga believes its biggest opportunity is to focus on free-to-play social games.” With the launch of this new Zynga Plus Poker app on Facebook, it appears the company may have had second thoughts about real money poker – in regulated markets at least.
This new app still uses the partypoker software and player pools except it is now fully integrated into Facebook and has done away with the need for the downloadable Zynga Plus Poker client.
