In October 2013, we informed you that Sky Poker and Dusk Till Dawn (DTD) had joined forces to bring the poker loving public the UK Poker Championships, a week-long festival of poker at the DTD casino in Nottingham.
When that article aired, the only detail set in stone was the £1,100 buy-in Main Event sporting a massive £500,000 guaranteed prize pool, but fast forward to day and the full UK Poker Championships schedule is in the public domain and therefore here on UK & Ireland PokerNews.
Featuring six special events with combined prize pools of £800,000 - the UK Poker Championships looks set to be one of the richest and most prestigious poker festivals hosted on our shores.

Winners of each event will win a custom UK Poker Championship bracelet with all entrants receiving leader board points when they buy into any of the six championship events. Whoever tops the leader board at the end of the festival wins a $15,000 Las Vegas package or the sterling equivalent in Dusk Till Dawn buy-ins, which is a pretty cool promotion in anyone’s eyes.
If that wasn’t enough to spice things up, the 2014 UK Poker Championships will be televised on Sky Sports which means they are likely to attract some big names through the DTD doors. One such big name is Sam Trickett who has been named as the Ambassador of the UK Poker Championships; a fitting tribute to a player who cut his poker teeth playing tournaments at DTD.
Trickett tops the UK all-time money list and is second in the worldwide all-time money listings thanks to his gargantuan $19,887,049 in live tournament winnings, an impressive total that Trickett will be keen to add to during the 2014 UK Poker Championships. Over $10 million of that huge sum came from Trickett's second place finish in the inaugural Big One For One Drop in 2012.
It's not often that the opportunity presents itself to play someone of Trickett's calibre in a £500 or £1,000 buy-in tournament so grab the chance while you can.
As you would expect, there are a plethora of satellites running around the clock both online at Sky Poker, Genting Poker and Dusk Till Dawn Poker and live at various Genting-owned properties around the UK along with at the DTD casino, too.
Everything points to the UK Poker Championships being a roaring success and I for one think it is exactly what the UK poker community wants. Here’s hoping everyone gets behind the idea and helps smash those already impressive guarantees.
