Rank Group Plc has completed the extensive refurbishment and rebranding of the former Gala Casino Leicester that is located on Highcross Street. The venue is now a Grosvenor G Casino following an overhaul of the property costing £1 million.
Grosvenor G Casino Leicester’s General Manager, Chris Maskill, said of the investment: “The investment in Grosvenor G Casino Leicester has really changed the look and feel of the venue and we now have one of the best facilities for games in the East Midlands. We look forward to welcoming new and experienced players to enjoy the first-class gaming facilities and the service which Grosvenor Casino is renowned for. We are especially proud to offer Leicester’s first 24/7 sports bar showcasing our desire to always give customers the best experience possible.”
The Grosvenor G Casino Leicester is one of 19 casinos that Rank Group Plc acquired from Gala Coral Group in May 2013 for £179 million. The casino sits alongside fellow Rank-owned Mecca Bingo Leicester.
As Mr Maskill mentioned, the Grosvenor G Casino offers around the clock gaming and the city’s first 24/7 sports bar. Part of the refurbishment saw a new ‘Gold Room’ created; a private area reserved for the casino’s high rollers which can also be hired for private games.
Rank Group Plc’s share price has been struggling of late and now sits at 146.60 from a 52-week high of 177.50. A trading update is due in January and rumours in the city are that the figures will not make pleasant reading sue to “difficult trading conditions.”
