Jono “Spyver” Beck Takes Third in Full Tilt Poker's $250k GTD

Jono "Spyver" Beck

It seems that calling yourself Jono us a recipe for success in the online poke world if this Sunday’s results are anything to go buy. Earlier today we published the story of Jono “GAWA9” Crute chopping the PokerStars Sunday Warm-Up for more than $94,500 and now we bring you the news of another Jono, Mr Jono “Spyver” Beck, finishing third in Full Tilt Poker’s flagship Sunday Major.

This weekend’s $250,000 Guarantee saw 1,451 entries create a guarantee-busting prize pool of $290,200, an impressive amount helped by players being allowed up to four entries each. Among the entrants were plenty of the best online poker talent the UK and Ireland could offer. Players such as Sheffield’s Rick “TheClaimer” Trigg (83rd for $464.32), Gavin “gavb31” Ball (61st for $609.42), “TheBombadier” (14th for $2,147.48) being three who made it into the top 180 places where the prize money flowed to.

The nine-handed final table was a star-studded affair that housed Sergio “petgamingSP” Aido, Calvin “Cal42688” Anderson and Holland’s Paul “freddiewalli” Berende and of course Newcastle’s Beck. Aido would eventually fall in sixth place for $11,317.80, while Beck couldn’t quite make it to the heads-up stage and fell in third place for a cool $27,569.00.

With Beck out of the way, Anderson and Berende agreed to flatten the payout structure a little — $6,395.54 was added to second place – and Berende went on to secure a memorable victory.

Although Beck will be disappointed to have gone so far in the tournament only to fall at the second to last hurdle, he must be delighted to bank the fourth largest online tournament cash of his career and the second largest score he’s had on Full Tilt Poker.

Beck recently broke through the $1 million barrier for online tournament winnings and is currently ranked 117th in the UK by With this large cash, that Beck should climb into the top 100 and maybe even beyond at the next update.
