Who Should Replace Tom Dwan as a Full Tilt Poker “Professional?”

Sam Trickett & Chris Moorman

With Tom “durrrr” Dwan and Full Tilt Poker parting company, there should be a spot on the roster for a new addition to “The Professionals,” Full Tilt Poker’s group of elite pros.

Although there are plenty of regional Full Tilt Poker Ambassadors who do a fantastic job representing the company, Dwan’s departure leaves Viktor “Isildur1” Blom and Gus Hansen flying the flag and sporting the Full Tilt Poker patch at a global level and surely it cannot be too long before a third marquee name is added to the roster.

While I may be biased due to looking after the UK & Ireland PokerNews site, I feel that the United Kingdom has plenty of players who could full Dwan’s shoes, with two in particular who stand out from the crowd and who seem perfect for sponsorship from such a big player in the online poker world.

The most obvious choice would have to be Sam Trickett simply because you would imagine that he ticks all of the boxes on any check list for being one of The Professionals.

  • Global poker icon
  • Massive winner in the highest stakes cash games and tournaments
  • Second on the all-time money list for live tournaments
  • Travels to all corners of the globe in search of success
  • Plays the “media game” well
  • Someone who other players would aspire to be

The list could be as long as the toilet roll that the Andrex puppy runs off with and almost every box would be ticked.

Should Full Tilt Poker want a tournament specialist on their books then they should look no further than Chris Moorman. The man from Essex is the only player in the history of online poker tournaments to have won more than $10 million and has almost $3 million in the live arena, too.

Like Trickett, Moorman is currently without sponsor, speaks well to the media, is widely respected, travels the world plying his trade and is a living legend of the game. What's not to like?

If Full Tilt Poker do replace Dwan, who would you like to see fill his shoes and why? Let us know in the comments box.
