Chris Moorman Holds a Narrow Lead in the Worldwide Rankings

Chris Moorman

The online poker tournament world has some amazing players in it, players such as Calvin “cal42688” Anderson, Caio “pessagno” Pessagno, Jason “jdpc27” Wheeler and Lukas “lukethafluke” Berglund but it is one of our very own who is ranked number one on the plant – Chris Moorman.

Moorman holds a slender 31 point lead over world number two Stefan “mindgamer” Jedlicka and a colossal 1,028 point lead over Jude Ainsworth in the UK & Ireland standings. The past week has been relatively quiet by Moorman’s standards, although in the past couple of days he has helped himself to a second place in the PokerStars $109 NL Hold’em 2R1A ($3,515) and won the Hot €50 ($3,364).

As mentioned, it is Ireland’s Jude Ainsworth who currently calls second place in the UK & Ireland rankings his own, but he is under intense pressure from the chasing pack, none more so than the in-form Rhys “floppinhel” Jones.

Get involved in the $3,000 rake race at Redbet Poker. There's a limited field so getting your hands on a share of the $3,000 should be easier than you would anticipate.

Last week we highlighted the fact that Jones, a Main Event Travel sponsored pro, had climbed to 20th in the worldwide rankings, his highest-ever rank. This week we are delighted to see that Jones has continued to crush and is now ranked 18th in the world.

Part of the reason for Jones moving up two spots was his fifth place finish in the Full Tilt Poker FTOPS Event #19 that banked him $24,450 in prize money and almost 272 leader board points in the online poker rankings. Can Jones continue his march up the worldwide rankings? We would not bet against it, that is for sure.

Bulldozing his way into the top 10 of the UK & Ireland standings is Scott “Aggro Santos” Margereson, who we said a few weeks ago was a prime candidate for a top 10 berth. Margereson has been in scintillating form over the past couple of weeks with a third place finish in FTOPS Event #13 for $11,588 being the highlight of his cashes.

In December alone, Margereson has cashed 17 times, of which seven are final table appearances. Throw into the mix a fifth place in the live GUKPT Grand Final Main Event and it is easy to see why Margeresen is one of the most-feared tournament players right now.

Before we sign off, a special mention has to go to Niall “Firaldo” Farrell for his epic misclick. We somehow missed Farrell’s second place finish in FTOPS Event #21 when we looked for the UK & Ireland’s biggest weekend winners, something the young Scot pointed out to us.

You see, Farrell accidently bought into the $215 FTOPS Event #21 thinking it was a No Limit Hold’em tournament only to discover it was fixed limit! Several hours of “poo-flinging” later, and Farrell found himself heads-up against Turkey’s Ozgur Arda. Farrell eventually finished second for $12,156.31 but not before he managed to strike a deal with his amazing negotiation skills.

Ozgur Arda: are you good at this firaldo ?
Firaldo87: nope, chop and play for jersey?
Ozgur Arda: yeah
Firaldo87: k

Congratulations, and here’s to many more misclicks in the future!
