UK & Ireland Rankings: Chasing Pack Put Pressure On The Top 10 0001

The latest UK & Ireland online poker rankings remain virtually unchanged from seven days ago with Chris Moorman out in front closely followed by Jude Ainsworth. However, if you look outside of those top 10 positions you will find a talented bunch of players waiting in the wings who only need one or two big scores to break into the top 10 and steal some of the limelight.

The biggest change to the current top 10 is Charlie Combes climbing from sixth place up to third. Winchester’s Combes is rapidly approaching $4 million in online winnings; Combes needs to win around $116,000 more to reach that impressive total.

Another big mover this week was Jon Spinks, who climbed to eighth place thanks in part to his outright victory in the PokerStars Sunday Warm-up. That win banked Spinks a career-best $115,940 and over 857 leader board points, bolstering his total to 5828.00.

As mentioned at the start of this article, there are plenty of players lurking outside of the top 10, peering in through the window and wanting to get in on the action. Scott “Aggro Santos” Margereson from Chesterfield is currently in 12th place after he won the Sunday High Roller at to bolster his own points tally and bankroll. Margereson is currently ranked 194th in the world, but if he keeps binking big events like the High Roller he can expect to climb past his all-time high of 122nd.

Keeping Margerson company in the shadow of the top 10 are the likes of Andrew “stato_1” Hulme who continually destroys me at Worlds With Friends, Luke “Bit2Easy” Reeves, Doncaster’s Paul Foltyn, and everyone’s favourite railbird Sam Grafton. In fact, here’s how positions 11 through 20 look.

With such a creative and talented bunch in the chasing pack it is surely only a matter of time before one of them has a few big consecutive results and makes a charge up the leader board. Who do you think will be the first player to break through? Let us know in the comments box below.
