One of the United Kingdom’s hottest poker talents has climbed to his highest ever world ranking thanks to a string of impressive results.
Rhys Jones, known at the virtual felt as “floppinhel” has been one of the most consistent performers in the online poker tournament world in 2013 and that consistency has seen him climb to third place in the UK & Ireland rankings and a career high of 20th place in the worldwide rankings that are compiled by PocketFives.com.
One of the reasons for Jones’ rise this week was his fourth place finish in the PokerStars Bigger $109 that not only saw him add $18,406 to his bankroll but also increased his leader board points by 246.27.
Another man who continues to climb up the UK & Ireland and worldwide ranks is Jareth “Jareth3542” East who this weekend had his second largest career score of $51,200, the sum awarded for taking down The Sunday Brawl at Full Tilt Poker. This impressive result came only one month after he won $55,555 by finishing third in the PokerStars Super Tuesday. East currently has $957,173 in online tournament winnings and will almost certainly pass through the $1 million barrier by the time 2013 ends.

The talented Christopher Brammer finds himself occupying eighth spot, but by the time the rankings are updated next week, should find himself a spot or two higher. This will definitely be the case if he completes what would be his fifth PocketFives.com Triple Crown. On Monday, Brammer won the Full Tilt Poker Turbo Hundo ($3,933) and also the $44 NL Hold’em Turbo ($2,624) at PokerStars and now has until December 2 to win another tournament at a third site to win a coveted Triple Crown.
Outside of the current top 10, the action is heating up nicely and the players in positions 11 through 16 are only one or two big results away from pushing through and joining those elite players. Scott “Aggro Santos” Margerson, Andrew “stato_1” Hulme, Luke “Bit2Easy” Reeves and Ross “RLOG” Loggie are three players who occupy those positions.
With FTOPS in full swing and players wanting to add to their bankroll before the European Poker Tour Prague festival in a week or so time, we would expect some of the big hitters to increase their volume in the coming week so stay tuned to PokerNews to discover any changes to the UK & Ireland Poker rankings.
