Brits Smash Up This Week’s Sunday Majors; Big Scores Galore! 0001

For the majority of the United Kingdom and Ireland, Sundays are spent washing the car, visiting relatives and relaxing in preparation for the week ahead. But for a small section of people, Sunday a day spent in front of their laptop or computer. A day spent grinding the Sunday Majors. A day of reckoning. OK, you get the idea.

Once again, we have looked at the results of Britain and Ireland-based players across the Sunday Majors and our jaws dropped due to the sheer amount of big scores that met us. One of the biggest wins of the weekend topped the scales at $51,320.00, a sum awarded to “Muckmeagain” for taking down the Full Tilt Poker Sunday Brawl.

Our players have a great record in the Sunday Brawl and this week was no different because in addition to Muckmeagain’s outright victory, “dante-sp” (4th for $18,218.60), “USoGotPwned” (10th for $2,556.00) and “Goldenboys” (11th for $2,556.00) each had deep runs in the $215 buy-in tournament.

Keeping with Full Tilt Poker, where you can grab more than $25 of free Rush Poker tickets, we see “flong78” banked a $4,746.00 score for finishing seventh in the $635 buy-in Super Sized Sunday, while “Mrluckypants” and “SeamossLasVegas” finished fifth and ninth in the $250,000 Guarantee for scores of $15,306.40 and $4,303.12.

Meanwhile, over at PokerStars, flong78, fresh from a final table appearance in the Full Tilt Poker Super Sized Sunday, helped himself to $17,157.00 when he finished fifth in the $109+R Sunday Rebuy. This result was made more impressive considering the final table of that particular tournament was the home to online legends such as “Soccermom96,” Germany’s “Ansgar2000,” Matt “mwj006” Wakeman, Jon “apestyles” Van Fleet and Mike “Timex” McDonald.

This Sunday’s Bigger $109 ended in a four-way chop and one of our players was among those dividing up the prize pool. Ireland’s Paul “ros1987” Allen ultimately finished fourth, but not before securing a $32,225.23 payout – almost as much as second place was originally scheduled to receive.

The Sunday Million is the one tournament that every online poker player wants to win, and rightly so because it is the biggest weekly tournament in the online poker world. This week’s edition saw 7,485 players turn out for it and two Brits managed to progress to its final table. Jamie “Ship It 2010” O’Connor reached the final table of the UKIPT Isle of Man Main Event a week or so ago and then crashed out on the bubble of the GUKPT Blackpool Main Event in unfortunate circumstances this weekend. O’Connor’s recent run of form continued when he navigated his way to the final table of the Sunday Million. Unfortunately, he could only manage a ninth place finish, still good for more than $11,000.

Essa_mania,” who lists the UK as their hometown, eventually busted in fourth spot, a result that adds $79,341.000 to their bankroll.

There were two Brits at the final table of the Sunday 500, too. After Christopher “NigDawG” Brammer had finished in 10th place, JP “MrBarrett82” Kelly went on to finish 5th for $20,286.00. However, the biggest cash haul stood at $64,420.48 – the prize given to eventual champion “com 157” after a heads-up deal.

Last but certainly not least, a shout out to Southport’s John “johne147” Eames who finished seventh in The Bigger $162 for a $7,160.60 score.

Congratulations to each and every one of UK & Ireland contingent who helped themselves to cash in this week’s Sunday Majors. Here’s to another set of fantastic results this coming Sunday.
