£400,000 Guaranteed GUKPT Grand Final Only a Week Away

The Grosvenor Victoria Casino

The curtain comes down on Season 7 of the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour next week as the famous London Victoria Casino – The Vic – plays host to the GUKPT Grand Final.

This season’s Grand Final Main Event has a £400,000 guarantee slapped on its prize pool, this despite lowering the buy-in to £2,000+£125 from £2,500+£125. It is a bold move from the GUKPT management team because in order to reach the guarantee and avoid an overlay, the tournament needs 200 entries, a figure that has only been met twice before in the history of the GUKPT.

The GUKPT Grand Final always attracts a stellar field thanks to the compact field and the relatively high buy-in. these factors make it perfect for professional poker players as they do not have to sift through several days of poker to bank a six-figure score.

Last season’s Grand Final Main Event saw 137 of the UK’s finest descend on The Vic, creating a £342,500 prize pool as they did so. The top 13 places paid out, with Simon Deadman, Ramey Shaio and Jamie Burland some of the names in the money.

The final table of that tournament was crammed with talent. Christopher Brammer (9th), Jon Spinks (5th), Victor Ilyukhin (3rd), Peter Charalambous (2nd) and eventual champion Sam Grafton just some of the names to reach the Grand Final’s grand finale.

As has been the case in the past, winners of Main Events during the current season have already secured their seats to the Grand Final. This means players such as Sunny Chattha and Richard Trigg will be in the capital along with the usual big names and familiar faces that usually turn out in force for a tournament of this magnitude.
