Should you ever need evidence that Chris Moorman sold his soul to the devil all you need to do is look at his recent results.
A fortnight ago, Moorman surpassed an unprecedented $10 million in online tournament winnings. His rich vein of form has continued since then with him wining a 16th and now a 17th PocketFives.com Triple Crown of titles. Moorman won the XTASE at Winamax for $6,159 and followed that up the following night by winning the $82 buy-in 6-Max Hyper Turbo at PokerStars for an additional $4,643.
Last night, Moorman had one of the best nights of his career. By winning the Full Tilt Poker Sunday Brawl for $48,760, Moorman secured his 17th Triple Crown. Moorman then won the $60,000 Guaranteed at partypoker for $13,950 and won the T-Rex at Full Tilt for $28,497. Add into the mix a final table appearance in a PokerStars $109 buy-in and a handful of other cashes and Moorman locked in a six-figure day.
Some people may be asking how Moorman managed to sleep on a night with him terrorising anyone who is stupid enough to register for the same tournaments as him. Is it on a bed of money? No, it’s on Toby Lewis’ sofa.
While Moorman was hovering up stacks, the rest of the UK & Ireland’s heroes were trying to emulate him and get in on the action. Ireland’s “uWannaLoan?” won after chopping the Sunday Kickoff heads-up for $27,200, while “YaaGy” finished seventh in the Sunday Warm-Up for $15,817.50.
“thunder32us” caused a storm when he finished fourth in the $109 Sunday Rebuy, taking home $23,437.25 for his efforts. The Sunday 500 saw Charlie “JIZOINT” Combes finished 12th while his fellow Brit “smokesthecat” navigated his way to the final table before falling in sixth place.
Combes would go on to win the $109 Turbo 2nd Chance at PokerStars for $21,319 then win the Sunday High Roller at PokerStars.fr for $39,409 before finishing second in the Full Tilt Poker Super Sized Sunday for $21,319. Had Moorman not been so ridiculous, Combes would have been the man in the limelight this weekend.
Over at Full Tilt Poker, when Moorman was winning the Sunday Brawl, Christopher “kid_bramm” Brammer (7th for $7,070.20) and “ZealoT_uK” (2nd for $32,474.16) were left in his wake.
Marco “4high20” Ruggeri won the Big Ben for $14,612 while “Bipolar_Boy03” and Andrew “stato_1” Hulme finished second and fourth for scores of $13,000 and $6,018 respectively.
When the dust had settled on Monday morning and the British and Irish grinders were tucked up in their beds – or on friends’ sofas – it became apparent that our boys and girl completely smashed Sunday yet again and proved to the world once more that they make up much of poker’s elite. Amazing tekkers, ladies and gentlemen!
