News broke late on Thursday that Europe’s premier poker room, Dusk Till Dawn, will host a Genting Poker Series (GPS) festival in January 2014.
Dusk Till Dawn (DTD) and Genting Poker joined forced in March 2013 when Genting Poker agreed to provide Dusk Till Dawn’s online poker product for three years. The two companies have worked closely together since the partnership with one result being GPS legs not clashing with the major events that DTD are running. Hosting a GPS event at the Nottingham-based poker room seems like a natural progression.
The GPS Dusk Till Dawn leg will be the eighth and final stop of the GPS’ second season and replaced the online leg that was originally scheduled for November. The £880 buy-in Grand Final in Sheffield still takes place in December, but it will be the season-ended leg. That honour goes to Leg 8 at Dusk Till Dawn.
The GPS Dusk Till Dawn Main Event takes place from January 8 through January 12, 2014 and features three start days. Day 1A is to be played online on January 8 with Days 1B and 1C running on January 9 and January 10.

“We are delighted that Dusk Till Dawn will be hosting a leg of the Genting Poker Series. The event continues to go from strength to strength, players love the deep stack format,” explained Kevin Proctor, Poker Manager and Genting UK. “60 minute levels and a starting stack of 25,000 chips mean every player enjoys plenty of action, no matter what the standard of their game.”
Although the GPS Dusk Till Dawn leg carries the standard £100,000 guarantee with it, here at UK & Ireland PokerNews would not be surprised to see that amount eclipsed by the time the third and final starting flight is completed.
This is a feeling echoed by DTD owner Rob Yong, “The GPS series is all about grass roots poker, with many opportunities for the man in the street to qualify and win life changing money, so I am very happy to be hosting a leg at DTD. I hope this is just the start of more collaborative projects between Genting and DTD as we both channel our energy into promoting poker in the UK and attracting more new players into this wonderful game.”
Satellites for this new stop will take place at Genting Poker and DTD’s online poker sites, at Genting casinos around the country and at DTD’s land-based operation in Nottingham.
Prior to the GPS heading to the Midlands, the PokerStars UKIPT calls into town for what should be a spectacular tournament. The UKIPT Nottingham Main Event from Season 3 holds the record for the best-attended UKIPT tournament, as 1,625 players packed into DTD and created a £1,137,500 prize pool. £210,400 of this huge sum of money found its way into the bankroll of Robert Baguley, the UKIPT Nottingham champion.
