Chris Moorman Reclaims Number One UK & Ireland Rank; Climbs to Second Worldwide

Chris Moorman

Chris Moorman has his sights set on the number one worldwide ranking spot, a position he has not filled since 2011. Moorman’s recent rich vein of form has seen him climb to the top of the UK & Ireland poker rankings and into second place on the worldwide leader board.

Since breaking through the $10 million winnings barrier in late September, Moorman has been in scintillating form at the virtual felt. Last Sunday, Moorman had one of the best nights of his illustrious career so far when he won the Full Tilt Poker Sunday Brawl, the T-Rex at Full Tilt Poker and the $60,000 guaranteed at partypoker. By the time Moorman logged off, he had won over $100,000 for a night’s work.

Hot on Moorman’s heels is the Galway boy Jude Ainsworth. The former team PokerStars Pro continues to bag himself some impressive scores week in week out despite focussing his poker playing to PokerStars, and Full Tilt Poker; other top ranked players compete across a far wider range of sites.

In the past week, Ainsworth won the $109 No Limit Hold’em Turbo 2x Chance at PokerStars for $7,031 and then came third in the Sunday edition of the same tournament for an even more impressive cash haul of $11,370. Ainsworth may now trail Moorman by almost 800 points, but if he continues to go deep in and win tournaments he will not stay that far behind for much longer.

While Moorman was bust stacking all and sundry and receiving all of the plaudits from the poker community, Charlie Combes was putting in an equally as impressive performance in the Sunday majors. Combes won the $109 Turbo tournament that Ainsworth finished third in ($21,319), won the Sunday High Roller at PokerStars.FR ($39,409) and finished second in the Full Tilt Poker Super Sized Sunday ($21,978).

Combes updated his Facebook status with, “Epic downswing cleared in 1 night, 2 wins and 2nd! Obv Moorman goes 1 step better! Grats x” shortly after his amazing Sunday session.

The top 10 has a new comer in the shape of Jareth East of Reigate, Surrey. East only became a submitted his online poker screen names in mid-September and already he is knocking on the door of a top 100 worldwide ranking. East consistently goes deep in tournaments on a daily basis and if he continues as he has been and starts to mix in some higher buy-in tournaments it will not be long before he is challenging for a top five UK & Ireland berth.
