Chris Moorman is Now Ranked Number One in the World

Chris Moorman

The latest online poker tournament rankings are available and UK & Ireland PokerNews is delighted to see the name of Chris Moorman at the top of the worldwide rankings.

Since becoming the first online tournament player to surpass $10 million in winnings, Moorman has been in terrific form and winning tournaments with what seems like relative ease. In recent weeks, Moorman has won his 16th, 17th and 18th Triple Crown, an award given to players who win three tournaments on three different online poker sites within a seven-day timeframe.

Amazingly, Moorman hasn’t won a tournament for over a week now, but thanks to plenty of deep runs in major online events and his past one-man demolition of the high stakes tournament arena, Moorman reclaims the number one spot.

Ireland’s Jude Ainsworth is Moorman’s closest rival in the UK & Ireland rankings, and has now put some distance between himself and third placed Toby Lewis although that gap may close again when the leader board is next updated because Lewis won the Two For Tuesday tournament at Full Tilt Poker on Tuesday night.

Sebastian Saffari looks to be hitting form again with six four-figure scores in the past week alone, while Charlie Combes’ recent good run of form continued with a fifth place in the Sunday High Roller, a fourth place in the PokerStars Big $162 and an outright victory in the partypoker $25,000 Gtd Rebuy.

The biggest score of the past seven days came from MainEventTravel sponsored pro Rhys “floppinhel” Jones who chopped the Sunday 2nd Chance when heads up with fellow Brit “chrispker23” for more than $42,000.

The leader board almost had a newcomer in the top 10, but “w4ldo” fell short. The player only joined the rankings this week and now that his results have filtered through he is ranked 11th in the UK & Ireland combined and 120th in the world. We will attempt to find out more about this Brighton-based grinder in time for next week’s update.
