In a move that many will see as far overdue, PokerStars has signed British high stakes cash game guru Alex Millar to its impressive roster of Team Online pros.
Millar, who plays under the alias “Kanu7,” is widely regarded as one of the best six-max and heads-up No Limit Hold’em players in the world. Millar discovered poker while studying for a degree in Mechanical Engineering at Warwick University — the same university that European Poker Tour champions Zimnan Ziyard and Rupert Elder studied at – and the rest, as they say, is history.
The rise of Millar from micro-stakes to the “nose bleeds” has been phenomenal. The now 28-year old started his career by playing freerolls and $5 tournaments before making the switch to cash games during the fourth year of University. Within two or three years, Millar had gone from playing $0.25/$0.50 games to beating the $25/$50 games; Millar can now be found playing as high as $400/$800 when those games run.
UK & Ireland PokerNews would like to congratulate Millar on his new role as Team PokerStars Online and wish him continued success for the future. You can find out more about Millar by heading over to the exclusive interview we conducted with him in September 2013.
Joining Millar in the role of Team Online newcomer is Canadian star Marc "FrenchDawg" Ladouceur and they in turn join the ranks of such luminaries as Shane "shaniac" Schleger, Mickey "mement_mori" Petersen, Isaac "Ike Haxton" Haxton and Randy "nanonoko" Lew.
