Rhys “floppin_ell” Jones Wins Second MiniFTOPS Title in a Week

Rhys "floppinhel" Jones

Most poker players can go several weeks or months without winning a poker tournament but MainEventTravel sponsored pro Rhys Jones is not like most poker players. Jones is somewhat of a sicko who last night won his second MiniFTOPS event in the space of a week.

On Tuesday night, Jones won Event #4 of the MiniFTOPS, the $109 No Limit Hold’em Multi-Entry tournament, for a career-best score of $50,008.54. This latest victory may not have boosted Jones’ bankroll as significantly, but turning $22 into $6,000 is certainly not to be sniffed at.

Jones outlasted 1,246 opponents in MiniFTOPS Event #12, the $22 No Limit Irish tournament. This event was the first of this series not to reach its guarantee, not that the players were complaining as it meant there was a $5,060 overlay for them to take advantage of.

One man who could not capitalise on the overlay was one of our very own who bubbled. Jon “EMSBas” Spinks crashed out in 136th place with 135 places paying. Unlucky, son but we doubt the $51.00 would have done too much difference to “Spinkles!”

The prize money had risen to $450 by the time the nine-handed final table was set, a final table that was the home to two British players, “Madeyell” and Jones. The former busted in eighth place for $630.00 while Jones went all the way and won the tournament for $6,000 like a true boss.

Event #13 saw 819 players turn out for the $33 Pot Limit Courchevel and they were nearly all beaten by a Brit. “CheckBetFold90” from Essex, almost went all the way in Event #13 before being eliminated by Germany’s “munichguy” in second place. “CheckBetFold90” won $3,439.80 for his valiant effort.

Tonight’s MiniFTOPS tournaments take place at 16:00 and 19:00. The first on the schedule should see a huge number of players create a massive prize pool. Event #14 is a Super Stacked No Limit Hold’em tournament carrying a $30,000 guarantee. We would expect this guarantee to be smashed, despite the tournament only costing $11 to enter.

The second tournament taking place tonight costs $22 and boasts a $10,000 guarantee. If Seven-Card Stud Hi is your game of choice then make sure you buy into Event #15 this evening.
