Lewis Still Leads the UK & Ireland Rankings but Moorman’s In the Hunt

Chris Moorman

It is the name of Toby Lewis that you will find sat at the summit of the UK & Ireland rankings, but that may not be the case for much longer because Chris Moorman is determined to retake the number one spot.

Lewis has had plenty of cashes over the past week, although he would forgive us for stating that there weren’t many that were worth writing home about, so to speak. When you have won over $400,000 from two tournaments in recent weeks everything else seems to pale into insignificance.

Moorman on the other hand has continued to rake in the cash as if it is going out of fashion. Results such as a win in the Full Tilt Poker $1k Saturday for $53,560 and a third place in the $162 Sunday Six Max for $16,801 have left Moorman less than $100,000 short of the unprecedented $10 million in online tournament winnings! We would bet our bottom dollar that Moorman will hit that remarkable total, if not by the end of September, by the end of October.

The scintillating form of the British players has resulted in the United Kingdom climbing to second in the worldwide rankings, narrowly ahead of the poker refugee haven of Mexico. It also means the UK & Ireland has three players in the top 10 – Lewis, Moorman and Jude Ainsworth – and seven players in the top 100. With some huge WCOOP events still to come at PokerStars, Moorman chasing the magic $10 million mark and plenty of players wanting to end 2013 on a high, we could see even more of our players climb up the rankings and receive the global recognition that they deserve.
