Jude Ainsworth Clings to Lead in UK & Ireland Online Rankings
The online poker tournament rankings for the United Kingdom and Ireland are up to date and Irishman Jude “j.thaddeus” Ainsworth is at the top of them. Ainsworth holds the most slender of leads, his 6931.52 points narrowly ahead of Christopher “NigDawG” Brammer’s 6826.28.
During July, Ainsworth could seemingly do no wrong at the virtual felt and it seemed like he was reaching final tables for fun. Unsurprisingly, after such an astonishing run of results, Ainsworth’s form has dipped during August and that has allowed the chasing pack to gain ground on him. Had Ainsworth not finished 18th in Full Tilt Poker’s FTOPS Event 35, he would have been overtaken by Brammer.
Brammer seems to have rediscovered the form that saw him become the UK & Ireland and the world number one, and that cannot be enjoyable for those who have to face him while on their daily grind. The highlights of Brammer’s week came on Sunday when he finished second in the $109 rebuy at PokerStars for $8,355 and then second in the $215 rebuy at PokerStars, for an additional $12,716. Brammer did managed to take down one tournament, the $109 2R1A at PokerStars on Tuesday night for $6,006.
Still in third place is Chris “moorman1” Moorman who will not be gaining any ground this week thanks to him attempting to win the Seminole Hard Rock Open that has a monster-sized guaranteed prize pool of $10,000,000. You can follow Moorman’s progress and that of other top poker professionals over at our Live Reporting pages as PokerNews is covering the event.
Thanks to his massive $253,063 score, Tony “810ofclubs” Lewis has soared from eighth into fourth place in the UK & Ireland and 23rd in the entire world. Like a true pro, Lewis did not allow a lad’s holiday in Croatia come between him and poker and last week took down FTOPS Event 35 at Full Tilt Poker for a career-best online cash. Not only did the victory allow Lewis to buy girlfriend Emily Frazer numerous new handbags, it also netted the former European Poker Tour Vilamoura champion over 1,000 leader board points.

Making up the rest of the top 10 are Charlie “JIZOINT” Combes, Sebastian “BassySaffari” Saffari (who won the Benjamin at Full Tilt Poker a couple of nights ago), the world’s biggest fan of taking pictures of himself with a pet dog Craig “mcc3991” McCorkell, Andrew “stato_1” Hulme, James “JamerOK” Cawley and MainEventTravel.com’s Rhys “floppinhel” Jones.
It will be interesting to see how the next couple of weeks pan out with the start of Season 10 of the European Poker Tour kicking off in Barcelona, which will take away the ability to play online poker for many of the top 10-20 players. There is then, of course, the PokerStars World Championship Of Online Poker (WCOOP) starting in September that is sure to see any of the top 50 players mount a charge for the top 10 rankings if they go deep in any of the events. Exciting times are ahead of us.
