Jude Ainsworth Being Chased Down in the UK & Ireland Poker Rankings
The online poker rankings are up-to-date and it is Ireland’s Jude “j.thaddeus” Ainsworth whose name is in flashing neon lights at the top of the leader board. Ainsworth may have held onto the number one spot, but he is under immense pressure from the chasing pack that is made up entirely of British players.
Ainsworth had one of the most ridiculous July’s on record and it appeared he couldn’t do anything wrong. The former team PokerStars Pro’s outrageous results included a win in the PokerStars $215 rebuy ($16,806); victory in the $109 No Limit Hold’em Second Chance ($7,805); fourth place in a Super Tuesday ($38,800); wins in the Full Tilt Poker Turbo Hundo ($3,360) and Sunday Mulligan ($13,052); and second place in The Hotter $75 ($15,533).
Unsurprisingly, Ainsworth’s form has dipped during August and that has resulted in the gap between him and second place closed significantly.
Former World number one, Christopher “NigDawG” Brammer currently occupies second place in the UK & Ireland standings; Brammer leapfrogged Chris “Moorman1” Moorman after an amazing start to August.
Brammer won the opening FTOPS event at Full Tilt Poker for a huge score of $129,611 and then went on to win his fourth Triple Crown when he took down the $320 No Limit Hold’em 6-Max at PokerStars ($11,232) and the Big €20 at PokerStars.fr ($3,117). Not content with three wins a week, Brammer then won the $12,500 guaranteed at PartyPoker ($3,563).
These remarkable results have seen Brammer climb to 10th in the worldwide rankings; if he keeps up this current form surely a top five spot beckons.
The aforementioned Moorman boosted his points tally with a string of impressive results. Moorman, who has more than $9.7 million in online poker tournament winnings, finished second in FTOPS Event #19 for a cool $62,261 and then won $2,232 in a Winamax tournament followed by victory in the $320 No Limit Hold’em 6-max that Brammer won the week before. The battle between Moorman, Brammer and Ainsworth for the number one berth should be amazing to watch from the sidelines.
Making up the rest of the top 10 are Charlie "chaz_man_chaz" Combes – who we are planning to speak to this week so watch this space --, Andrew “stato_1” Hulme, and Sebastian “Seba29072” Saffari. The latter has helped himself to a number of big score in recent weeks, the largest of which topping the scales at $28,310 – his reward for a third place finish in the Sunday Supersonic at PokerStars.
Craig “mcc3991” McCorkell, Tony “810ofclubs” Lewis, Jon “EMSBas” Spinks and Rhys “floppinhel” Jones complete the top 10 spots.
