Obviously, the standout performance was that of Matt Perrins, who took down the $5,000 buy-in No Limit Hold’em event for almost $800,000 and his second WSOP bracelet. Perrins’ cash haul only surpassed by that massive win of Matthew Ashton’s last week in the $50,000 buy-in Poker Players’ Championship.
There were also a few near misses in the final few tournaments prior to the Main Event. Scotland’s Gordon Huntly crashed out on the final table bubble of The Little One for One Drop, while Cormac O’Higgins finished in 10th place in Event #60. Rory Rees Brennan managed to reach the final table of Event #61, but busted in eighth.
