UK & Irish Players Continue to Crush the SCOOP Events
The 2013 Spring Championship Of Online Poker (SCOOP) has reached its halfway stage and the British and Irish players show no signs of slowing down in their quest for online poker glory. Here’s a round-up of the recent scores by our boys and girls.
SCOOP Event #10: No Limit Hold’em Super Knockout
The $27 buy-in Low event was not the kindest event to our heroes as they missed the top prizes. “kouzoukaki!” and “Adreny” who finished 36th and 35th respectively, both winning $445.45 in cash, had the two deepest runs.
The $215 medium buy-in proved popular with the players as 4,637 bought in to create a $955,222.00 prize pool, almost 2.5 times the $400,000 guarantee. A whole host of our players reached the latter stages and helped themselves to four-figure scores including, “katiemikexxx,” “ArRoBiZzLe,” Paul “thehempy” Hempseed, “mcclean147” and “BubsenMan.” However, it was “Bugenhagen76” who went the deepest, finishing in sixth place for a cool $15,522.35.
The $2,100 price tag did not deter 662 high stakes players from buying into the High event, creating a $1,357,100 prize pool as they did so. Former European Poker Tour San Remo champion Rupert “ElRupert” Elder crashed out in 21st place for $3,765.95 plus six bounties worth $1,025 each, leaving “cmontopdeck” to fly the flag for our players. He eventually busted in fifth place for an impressive $36,234.57 plus 15 bounties totalling an additional $15,375.
SCOOP Event #13: Pot Limit Omaha heads-Up
The Pot Limit Omaha Heads-Up events proved to be popular once again and each of the three levels had its guarantee smashed to pieces.
The $27 buy-in low event saw “Kid Blaast” and “Eye Rai$e” go the farthest for the UK & Ireland, finishing in 11th and 14th respectively, while in the $215 Medium event “PhilRoyal888” finished 13th.
The $2,100 High saw Ben “milkybarkid” Grundy (23rd), “OMGjonyctt” (21st) and Liqqa (6th) all put in some impressive result, the latter bagging him $16,848.00.
SCOOP Event #14: No Limit Hold’em Rebuys (Big Antes)
They like big antes and they cannot not lie, you other brother’s can’t deny! That is a song not sung by the British and Irish contingent, but maybe it should have been judging by some of the results they managed to log in this event.
“shmothy” (5th) and “Adreny” (3rd) each navigated their way past the majority of the 8,071 field in the $11 Low event, bagging over $30,500 between them.
Although their scores were not as substantial as their lower buy-in cousins, Daniel “danloulou” Smyth (21st for $1,983.20) and “vindog03” (9th for $5,106.74) each had great finishes in the $109 Medium event.
As you would expect from a $1,050 rebuy tournament, the High event featured some of the best poker talent in the world, and some of our players showed they can rub shoulders with these superstars.
Stephen “Stevie444” Chidwick and “Amadi_017” each made it onto the final three tables, but it was Rory “Mafews” Matthews who went the deepest, finally busting in ninth spot for a score of $17,138.00.
SCOOP Event #15: No Limit Hold’em Ante Up
The Ante Up event sports unique structure that sees the blinds remain constant at 5/5 but the antes increase every level. This format forces the action considerably and it certainly worked in the favour of “JAMIEHUNT83” who went all the way and won the Low event for $7,465.80 after a five-way chop at the final table. Congratulations.
Two final tables and a number of deep runs by UK & Ireland players in the $82 buy-in Medium event have helped to boost our already impressive SCOOP figures. Paul “Senterpied” Senter (14th) and ”jareth3542” (13th) narrowly missed out on reaching the final table, but “OMGjonyctt” (8th) and “viking47” (5th) did make it onto the all-important final table.
The $700 buy-in High Event was in danger of being renamed the $700 Brit event after an amazing set of results from our players. “INSHALA82’s” 13th place finish would have been enough reason for us to start a round of applause but they were outlasted by Christopher “NigDawG” Brammer (9th), “Amadi_017” (8th) and the eventual champion Charlie “JIZOINT” Combes in a star-studded field. Amazing tekkers.
SCOOP Event #16: Fixed Limit Omaha Hi/Low
Another SCOOP event and yet another victory for UK players. This time “holako” finished on top of Event #16. For their victory, “holako” bagged $11,456.32 and a coveted SCOOP watch.
The Medium $215 buy-in almost saw another UK victory but “Kid Blaast” fell at the final hurdle to finish second. It was not all bad news though, because “Kid Blaast” made a deal wth eventual champion”thefish01x” and took home $20,234.01 for his efforts.
Only 15 places were paid in the $2,100 buy-in High Event but three of those places were secured by our players. John “dagunman” O’Shea cashed in 12th place, while Richard “CHUFTY” Ashby (8th) and “saphire1” (5th) both progressed to the final table.
Stay tuned to UK & Ireland PokerNews for a second recap of the action that will bring you bang up to date with the latest SCOOP action involving players from our marvellous countries!
