UK & Ireland Rankings: Sebastian Saffari Back in Second Place; Jon Spinks Climbs to Sixth 0001

The latest UK & Ireland poker rankings are in and it appears that Chris Moorman is facing the biggest threat to his dominance since we started compiling this weekly report.

Moorman is still ranked number one in the UK & Ireland but after a quiet – by his standards at least – week he has seen his lead cut to just 130 points. Not only that but the chasing pack are also closer to him than they have ever been. The man who is closest to Moorman in the standings is Sebastian Saffari, a recent subject in our Best of the British Isles feature.

Saffari continues to log some fantastic results at the virtual felt and it is surely only a matter of time before he knocks Moorman from the top spot. In the past week Saffari has had near misses in a number of major online tournaments. Some of his results include:

  • 2nd in the PokerStars $215 Weekly PLO for $4,148
  • 2nd in the Full Tilt Poker $1k Saturday for $22,230
  • 3rd in the PokerStars $109 NL Hold’em Turbo for $5,577
  • 3rd in the PokerStars $102 NL Hold’em Heads-Up Hyper Turbo for $1,190
  • 2nd in the PokerStars $215 NL Hold’em Turbo for $6,154

Rounding out the top five places at time of writing are Ross “RLOG” Loggie, Christopher “NigDawG” Brammer and Andrew “stato_1” Hulme.

Climbing up to sixth place is Jon “EMSBas” Spinks, who has been one of the most consistent tournament players in the world for as long as we can remember. A third place in the Hot €100, a tenth place in the Full Tilt Poker Super Sized Sunday and a runner-up finish in the PokerStars $320 Six-Max are resulted that helped boost Spinks’ points tally.

A number of big scores have helped Charlie “chaz_man_chaz” Combes climb back into the top 10 and his seemingly unnatural ability to go deep in major event continues, a place in the top five (at least) beckons. Second place finishes in the PokerStars $109r and the PartyPoker $10,000 Speed were backed up by a massive $25,907 score for his third place in The Bigger $162. Great things are destined for Mr Combes.

With the 2013 Spring Championship Of Online Poker (SCOOP) just around the corner, we would expect all the big name pros to ramp up their volume. This could and should create some interesting changes to the current top 10.
