To say this year’s Spring Championship Of Online Poker (SCOOP) has been a success for United Kingdom and Ireland based players is an understatement; it has been a fantastic series that has seen our players win over $5,600,000so far.
SCOOP Event #36: No Limit Hold’em 1R1A
“GodsTeacher” was the United Kingdom’s deepest player in the Low buy-in event, eventually busting in seventh place for $9,229.02. “BubsenMan” continued his remarkable form (14 cashes) by finishing in 12th place for $2,360.91.
The Medium event saw plenty of people who aren’t from the UK, but call it home, go deep. Team PokerStars Pro Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier (10th) and Manig “swordfish007” Loeser (22nd) being the ones who went furthest. Rhys “floppinhel” Jones (19th) and “reecelfc69” (25th) were the names of legitimate Brits who almost went the full distance.
Rory “Mafews” Matthews cashed for the 14th time in the series but couldn’t quite bag a win, falling in seventh place in the $2,100 High Event for $40,640.00. He was joined in the latter stages by “vindog03” who cashed in 14th place.
SCOOP Event #37: H.O.R.S.E
The H.O.R.S.E. events did not go too well for our players, with nobody from our region cashing in the $2,100 High level. There was some brief success, however, in the $27 Low when “PayMyLoans11” finished 21/2826 and when “MadameKramer” busted 13/567.
SCOOP Event #38: No Limit Omaha Hi/Low
Omaha Hi/Low is a crazy game at the best of time, but add a No Limit betting structure to it and it becomes completely bonkers.
“lee Herbert” went the furthest of the UK & Irish army in the low event, eventually finishing 18/2906 for $267.54 – almost ten times his initial investment.
Stephen “stevie444” Chidwick almost added a second SCOOP watch to his wrist but fell just shy in third place for a score of $13,220.00. Chidwick was joined late on by the likes of “ezeelife” (7th), “miamia23” (8th) and “akkenny” (17th).
SCOOP Event #39: Pot Limit Omaha 6-Max
The 39th SCOOP event saw play stay with four hole cards for the eagerly anticipated Pot Limit Omaha 6-max. “ChazaB84” narrowly missed out on a Low final table, busting in 9th place, while “razor ramon3” and “Arkesilas289” both reached the final two tables before being eliminated.
The $530 Medium event may attracted 700 runners but sadly none of our players took down the tournament and claimed its $63,000 first place prize. The closest any of them did to doing that was “O.Mustang” who finished in 14th place, with “jonwayne69” not too far behind in 24th.
A total of 180 players paid the $5,200 asking price to enter the High Event, which created a prize pool of $900,000. Three of our players grabbed a slice of that money, Stephen “stevie444” Chidwick (23rd), “Gozoboro” (17th) and “Tagult” (16th). UK-based American Joe “Ender555” Ebanks wenth the furthest of players from our shores, coming fourth for $76,500.00.
SCOOP Event #40: No Limit Heads-Up High Roller
Ben “KidCardiff6” Warrington had the best result of UK & Ireland player across all three buy-in levels when he chopped the $2,100 Medium event before going on to win for a total cash haul of $91,920.00.
Other notables who made it to the money in this event were Rory “Mafews” Matthews, Stephen “stevie444” Chidwick.
SCOOP Event #41: No Limit Hold’em 4-Max
“dagsie89” came ever-so-close to victory in the $27 Low event, bursting the final table bubble of a 8734 entry field to finish fifth for $3,014.74.
The Medium event is best left alone, but the $2,100 High saw a number of our heroes make really deep runs. Chris “Moorman1” Moorman finished 14th, David “sexygee” Gent went soon after in 12th place. Matt “pezler06” Perrins burst the final table and finished fifth while “USoGotPwned” chopped heads-up with Team PokerStars’ George “GeorgeDanzer” Danzer to take home $168,988.00, which incidentally was almost $14,000 more than Danzer took home for his victory!
SCOOP Event #42: No Limit Hold’em 8-Max
The 8-max event is currently paused and we will bring you the lowdown tomorrow.
SCOOP Event #43: No Limit Hold’em Main Event
Like the 8-max event, the Main Event is currently paused and we will recap the action tomorrow. We are delighted to see a plethora of UK & Irish players through to Day 2, especially in the $10,300 High Main Event where it seems every other name is British!
SCOOP Event #44: No Limit Hold’em Turbo 3x Chance
The closing event saw massive crowds create huge prize pools and that benefited our players greatly as they added large scores to their resumes.
“SC72A” finished second in the $11 Low and took home $27,454.19 after a four-way chop, while “el kudos” (5th), “bas0r” (6th), Jude “j.thaddeus” Ainsworth (7th) and “andyafc#1” (14th) each had superb runs in the $109 Medium event.
The $1,050 High saw John "HonestPete” Tabatabai cash in 28th place and then “dmannyboy69” progress to 12th where his tournament ended. David “davidv1213” Vamplew negotiated a $133,422.80 payday for himself in a five-way chop, before busting in fifth having locked up over $53,000 more than he would have received pre-deal.
Be sure to tune into UK & Ireland PokerNews on Tuesday for a recap of the Main Events, which hopefully our boys or girls will have done awesome in!
