Liam O’Brien wins the DTD £150 Deepstack for £12,430
Liam O’Brien is the latest in a long list of names to win the Dusk Till Dawn £150 Deepstack event. The first year philosophy student navigated his way through a talented field of 364 players to scoop the £12,435 first place prize.
The 364 entrants created a prize pool of £54,600 that exceeded the £50,000. This was no mean feat considering the superb weather and the fact it was a bank holiday weekend. Among the crowd of players inside the Nottingham-based club were the likes of Julian Thew, Mitchell Johnson, Mark Mccluskey, Maria Demetriou, Ben Vinson and Colburn “Rastafish” Tomlin. But it was the little-known student O’Brien who outlasted them all.
O’Brien’s only major live cash prior to this exceptional result came in February 2011, ironically at the Dusk Till Dawn club. On that occasion, O’Brien finished 86th from 1,058 runners in the UKIPT Nottingham Main Event. With his bankroll significantly boosted, we would not be surprised to see O’Brien in many more live events in the coming weeks and month.
