EPT Grand Final €100,000 Super High Roller with Over 30 Players Confirmed 0001

The PokerStars and Monte-Carlo® Casino European Poker Tour Grand Final is just days away, and the PokerNews team will be heading to the French Riviera for the festival. One of the three events PokerNews will be live-reporting from is the €100,000 Super High Roller, and it's set to be a spectacular event.

On Wednesday, PokerStars revealed that over 30 players have already been confirmed for this massive buy-in event. That already puts the prize pool over €3 million, and it's only going to grow from here. Last year's event attracted 38 players and generated 45 entries. Justin Bonomo proved to be the one shining brightest as he took down the event for a whopping €1.64 million.

Beginning on May 13 and running through May 15, the €100,000 Super High Roller will be the second of its kind held at the EPT Grand Final. Along with the prize money allotted to the winner, he or she will also take home a stunning Shamballa Jewels bracelet as part of the prize.

EPT President Edgar Stuchly said, "Monaco really is the spiritual home of high-stakes gaming, and the response we’ve had to the High Roller events has been fantastic so far. This is going to be a Grand Final to remember!"

"We hosted our first Super High Roller event at the 2011 PCA and since then, they have become a staple on our annual event calendar," commented PokerStars Global VIP Host Garry Gates. "The formula just works. Big buy-in events generate massive first-place prizes, which in turn helps attract the kind of players everyone loves to watch. At the end of three exciting days, somebody's leaving a millionaire. It's always fun to watch, and I'm lucky to have a front row seat."

Those who play the €100,000 Super High Roller event will receive a few exclusive benefits. "Players who come out and support our Super High Roller events enjoy a little tangible rakeback and VIP treatment for their loyalty as well," Gates added. "Free rooms, chauffeured limousine rides, room credit for food and drinks and complimentary taxi service are offered at some stops, and here in Monaco we have a very unique opportunity. Upon landing in Nice, France, our VIPs have a chartered helicopter waiting for them, which takes them on a ride above the picturesque shores of the Mediterranean before touching down in the Principality of Monaco."

A helicopter? If that's not treatment, we don't know what is.

Outside of the €100,000 Super High Roller, there will be a €25,000 High Roller that will be taking place May 10 through 12. The €10,000 Main Event takes place May 6 through 12. These two events will also be covered live by PokerNews.

The following players have been confirmed for the €100,000 Super High Roller:

  • Daniel Negreanu
  • Jonathan Duhamel
  • Jason Mercier
  • Vanessa Selbst
  • Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier
  • Scott Seiver

  • Gus Hansen
  • Isaac Haxton
  • Dan Smith
  • Tobias Reinkemeier
  • Philipp Gruissem
  • Erik Seidel
  • Steve O’Dwyer

Team PokerStars Pro Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier placed third in the €100,000 Super High Roller event last year. He commented, “Last year’s tournament was great, and I’m pleased that I came third as the standard of play was incredible. To win the Super High Roller event at the EPT Grand Final would be awesome, and I’m hoping this is my year.”
