Day 1a of the BoylePoker.com International Poker Open (IPO) London is done and dusted after the first of three starting flights took place inside Aspers Casino Stratford on Wednesday evening.
A total of 86 players bought in for £200+£25 but only 32 of those managed to navigate their way through the minefield that is a Day 1a to progress to Saturday’s Day 2. However, thanks to this tournament being a re-entry event, any of the 54 players who busted out on Day 1a can buy back in on any of the other two starting days and have another bite at the cherry.
One man who does not need to be taking extra bites at proverbial fruits is Mihal Antone who ended the day with the title of chip leader. Antone bagged up 99,000 worth of chips at the close of play, 14,000 more than his nearest rival Andrew Berkecz. Also starting Day 2 with chips aplenty is Huseyin Houssein who, according to the Boyle Poker Blog, lead the field for most of Day 1a only to finish with 74,300 chips – enough to place him third overall.
Day 1b kicks off at exactly 19:00 this evening and should see an even larger field descend on the fantastic casino that is Aspers Casino Stratford. Players should try to register as early as they can in order to avoid lengthy queues of yesterday evening.
