Nigel Ventre leads the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) Didsbury Main Event as the first of the two starting days ended last night. Ventre managed to turn his 20,000 starting stack into a tournament leading 99,925.
Just 22 of the 59 entries made it through to Saturday’s Day 2, although many of those who failed to navigate their way through Day 1A will re-enter during Friday’s Day 1B, especially when they see the prize pool start to swell.
Chip leader Ventre has some impressive results to his name including a £1,400 score that he was awarded for winning a £200 buy-in side event at the 2010 GUKPT Club Championships held in Huddersfield. Now he has set himself up for another deep run in a GUKPT event, the £550 Didsbury Main Event.
Joining Ventre on Day 2 are, among others, Matt Davenport (85,700), recent APAT World Championships Main Event winner Erimas Livonas (76,550), Kevin Houghton (59,700), Peter Wigglesworth (59,450), and Rob Sherwood (32,500).
